If you do get a response and seem happy with the person, I would have a professional look at it for you. It would be worth the money in my opinion.

General Discussion / Re: DZ 302 re-manufactured motor on ebay

Whats a real DZ? One that has been removed from a 1969 Z/28? it will still NOT be the correct motor for that car. Again DZ is nothing more than a suffix code. The guy should not have stamped anything on the pad. he should just try to sell the motor as a 302.

Junk it! Not worth the time and money in my opinion. Drive the Volvo.

If you are looking for a real 302 motor to put in your car than this looks pretty decent and seems reasonable. Who cares about the stamp if the motor is not the born with motor to your car. DZ is just a suffix code and does not really mean anything special about the block itself. Looks to be a real 302 to me. I would rather see this motor in your car than a crate motor.

I believe Seymour or Eastwood makes a correct glossy gloss heater box rattle can paint.

There are plenty of carb people around. I would not put up with anybody keeping my carb over a couple weeks. They are really not rocket science whether it is a Holley or Q-Jet. I bet Jerry M. wiould have it back way quicker than that. Most of the times I think these carbs come back over colored/restored anyhow but that is JMO.

I put a correct dated 4 bolt block in my Z and just built a real 302 to spec. Nothing different in the blocks from DZ or just a 4 bolt block of that era I believe.

I have the same set of points in my Z for over 10 years now. I drive it weekly. Why change?

On the steering column. Take the reverse arm off and you will be fine. If you have headers on that car the reverse arm will probably be off anyhow.

I use a rattle can paint by NOW. Its a Sherwin Williams product. Its real, real close in my opinion and you can buy it at ACE Hardware. Did a couple sets of the old wide bar Lakewoods and they look real nice.
