Originality / Re: Caps for 69 (68?) RS windshield washer bracket
« on: April 25, 2006, 08:37:14 PM »
On page 460 of the AIM they show how they were installed. I take it that there might have been 6 used???? These caps also came on other models and years. Just recently a friend of mine had a 1967 L79 chevelle with 2 caps installed on the screws on the washer bottle bracket. They were original. I bought the ones from Wayne Chipman. A good man to deal with!  Sam

General Discussion / Re: block boring

You should be safe at 30-40 over on a SB. In the old days they used to bore 283's to 120 over to make them 301's. Thats where the 302 Z/28's came from in 67. Sam

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 4.56 posi 12 bolt (BW code)
« on: February 01, 2006, 04:21:09 AM »
I like the 4.56 for a street driven Z/28. Those cars pull out much easier with that ratio than a 3.73. I recommend a 4.56 with a little taller tire for a Z in my opinion. NO trailer queens here.  Sam

Decoding/Numbers / 1969 Z/28 date code
« on: January 29, 2006, 04:13:07 AM »
I have an (11D) of 68 Z/28. The radiator is the CB code with the ( L) date and my bumper jack is stamped (8L) the car also has no proportinate valve for the brakes under the seat. Has original brake line still. Can I assume these to be all correct for my car? Thanks,  Sam

Decoding/Numbers / 1968 302 crankshafts

I know that the 68 and 69 cranks were the same but did GM have another number that they used other than 1178? Did the early 68 Z's have a different crank number  Thanks,  Sam

I would say you have to find the right gasket. They should all fit. Especially those years.

Originality / 1969 Z/28 fuel line bracket
« on: January 05, 2006, 12:06:27 AM »
Does the early 69 Z's have the fuel line bracket that bolts to the back right carb stud and wraps around the back carb fuel line? Car is 11(D) of 68. If so the repops are silver clad. Is that the right color? I have a feeling they may have been black oxide??? Thanks,  Sam

298 for the 69 Z/28. Some may of had 293's but depends on who was on the line that day.  Sam
