General Discussion / Re: Passenger door mirror
« on: June 28, 2019, 10:38:36 PM »
Note that if the passenger mirror is placed in the same position as the driver's side, you really don't get a good angle of view down the passenger side. It is really a two person job to set it for the best view. I repositioned  my dealer installed passenger mirror a little farther back when we repainted about a decade ago. No one has ever noticed it is in a different position than the driver's.
Now if I could just get my wife to quit slamming the passenger door or repostioning "her mirror" so she can see out back...

That's a well traveled area. And it does look like cars were picked by availability not rarity. Just up the boulevard we have security 24/7 at the Autofair.  Really hate to hear about this.

Exactly as Gary says... I suppose I could add Dynaliner, which is added on top of the Dynamat for heat reduction, but that wasn't the main (obvious) issue for me.

Beside the obvious? Probably not. But I put Dynamat in my 68 and it helped a lot in noise reduction and a little in heat reduction.

You are so right, and many came home dead inside, as well. For at least 20 years after that war ended, I spent time "talking guys back home". Interestingly,  one of the best ways to clear your mind is working on an old car...
God bless our troops in harms way today!

I used to think the NC legislature was fairly open minded when it came to old cars.  Then, they decided to get really strick on cars coming in from out of state.

Garage Talk / Antique Tag Qualifications
« on: May 10, 2019, 09:57:34 PM »
The North Carolina House is considering reducing antique tag qualifications from 35 years to 25 years. The qualifications will contain use limits to curb misuse. Are there many other states that offer 25 year antique tags?

Garage Talk / Charlotte Autofair and AACA SE Spring Nationals

The Autofair starts this Thursday, and I'm glad to report that the number of cars in the Car Corral has increased. Maybe restoration is making a comeback in the SE.
The AACA  Nationals will be on Saturday.  Lots of Camaros and Chevelles in 36b high performance class.
As usual I'll be out front in the show field tent. Stop by if you are there.

Phil, what was the mystery DBer's name? I thought I knew everyone.
He never said who he was or where he was from, and by the time I went to where he was, he was gone.
