6-cylinder Camaros / Six at Charlotte
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:40:52 PM »
Been meaning to post this.  Here's a six that showed well at Charlotte this year.  Who says a six can't do well at car shows?  Keep 'um running!

Any suggestions?
I've got to replace some bulbs, etc. anyway; so I might as well give the lenses a little polish on the inside.
No scratches or swirls, so I don't want to add any... They are just a little dingy on the inside.
Thanks in advance!

Were interior parts like dash pads date stamped somewhere?

Well, at least the body...

I'm posting this early, because the meet deadline is March 3. Look Here for meet brochure.
(And yes, as some of you known, that's me listed as chair... not as big a deal as it sounds, the Chief Judge does the real work....)   ;)

An offer: If you are active on this forum and do plan to come to the Charlotte Autofair, I'll be happy to send you two tickets (as in "vendor" tickets for the entire Autofair). PM me with your real name and mailing address. I'll send the tickets to you in March when they come available. (You will NOT be placed on any soliciting list.)
More Info on Autofair.

Several on this forum from the greater Charlotte area are in local Camaro/Chevy clubs and will be there on the weekend.

Steve, Gary, and Rick, I haven't forgotten you... and I know where you live....  ;D

"Charlotte AutoFair -- presented by the Hornets Nest Region, AACA -- is the largest and greatest Collector Vehicle Event in the Southeast."

Or in other words, here's a few pics of my January bad weather project... every classic car lover needs one!
Interior restoration: dash pad, seats, seat belts, a few repairs under the dash, re-tighten headliner, new bumpers (re-chromed), and last but not least some Dynamat to make the car a little quieter and the boss lady happy.
(Steve, most of the interior stuff we glanced at briefly last Fall in Charlotte.  Hate to give up original interior, but the car is a driver and now more driveable.)
And BTW, thought you might enjoy a picture of my retirement cake.

General Discussion / Rick & His Yenko at Americarna LIVE Car Show
« on: December 01, 2013, 01:23:54 AM »
I met Rick at the show today and saw his beautiful Yenko.
Steve, Rick does have his CRG shirt on, but it was still about 35 degrees with a stiff wind at 10 am this morning, so it is about his third layer at that point.
Anyway, I promised I'd post some pics...

And I saw something I'd never seen before... The bikes are his Huffy Camaros.  You can't read it in the pics, but it does say "Camaro" on them...
Rick says they are low mileage, unrestored survivors!  ;D

Anybody going?

We'll be parking Thursday and Friday in one of the HNR spaces on the Chocolate field. No, not in a Camaro...

General Discussion / Charlotte Autofair
« on: August 22, 2013, 03:21:02 PM »
The Fall Charlotte Autofair will be September 19-22.  The fall event is smaller than the one in the spring, but vendor's will fill the infield and part of the green field outside.  The car sales are shaping up, as well.  (Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing how many Camaros will be for sale on the track...)
The HNR show on Saturday actually has a modified class --something you rarely see from an AACA region!
And of course, the Charlotte area Camaro clubs and others will be out on the weekend.
Ya'll come.... ;D

General Discussion / Lobbying pays off
« on: August 21, 2013, 08:11:03 PM »
NC has changed the DMV rules for titling an out of state classic car. The NCDMV has to make the inspection within 15 days of the filing of required documentation. I suppose they could dispute the paperwork, but at least it is headed in the right direction.
In the past you could wait a long time on the drawn out process.
How are other states handling this issue?

Originality / 68 exhaust hangers
« on: August 01, 2013, 04:27:03 PM »
I need a picture of the original exhaust (dual) hangers used in 68.  It's fine if it is just the part, because that's what I need to see -the part itself.
Come to think of it, if they were the same in 67 that will work, or if there was more than one version used in 68, I need to see early.
Thanks in advance!  ;D

General Discussion / Collector Car Appreciation Day
« on: July 13, 2013, 10:35:02 PM »
Did you drive your Camaro yesterday?  It was Collector Car Appreciation Day.  SEMA even got the US Congress to pass a declaration the last few years.
Steele Rubber had a Cruise-in last night.  Matt Agosta, their CEO, is active in SEMA.  This morning, they hosted our club for a tour.
We need to support this kind of legislative recognition.  Classic cars don't always fair very well when they start passing laws...

General Discussion / Best Method to Put in Rear Seat?
« on: June 26, 2013, 10:38:29 PM »
Okay, maybe it's just me...  ::)
My rear seat bottom is difficult to put in and not have a small gap between bottom and top.
The seats and hardware are original and a bit brittle, so I'm afraid to just shove the bottom in place. All the hardware looks like it lines up right. The top looks properly seated.
Does anyone have a trick or angle about installing it?  ???
