Restoration / 68 Air Conditioning -Sealing
« on: March 02, 2007, 04:45:09 PM »
I want to pick back up on the AC sealing question...

Learned a lot from here: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=1171.0;all

The 68 AIM, C60/B3, mentions several seals... I've been hunting for over a year and nobody has any original to sell and I can only find seal #3937126 in repo.

Does anyone know a source (yes, even repo) of the other seals? (Am I just not looking in the right place?)
Does anyone have any more pictures of the various seals in original cars (Ed has helped a lot, thanks.)
We established in the above post (and from the AIM) that clips were not used in 68.  It was double-sided tape.  Can anyone describe was that looks like?

68rsss327 has asked how the seal went across the fender braces in another post.

I (and I believe others) would really appreciate the help!  ;D

Site Comments/Discussion / Unable to open attached photos
« on: March 02, 2007, 03:45:11 PM »
For the last week or so, some of us (so it's more than just me) have not been able to open some attached photos.  Any ideas why or what we could do?  Do they expire?

General Discussion / Seattle Area Classic Car Dealers?
« on: February 21, 2007, 07:03:11 PM »
Anybody know any Seattle area classic car dealers?  I've got to go there in a few days and would love to spend what spare time I'll have looking at cars.
Appreciate any advice...

Maintenance / Oxidation on electrical connections
« on: February 12, 2007, 08:44:27 PM »
My question is about oxidation on electrical connections.  I've heard that there is such a thing as "oxidation solvent", but I've never seen it on the shelf of the auto parts stores.  So what is it and how can I get it?

My reason for my question is simple.  I know my 68 sat for well over a year before I got it.  I've spent the last two winters going through my wiring harnesses, cleaning connections, replacing a bad starter wire, etc.  I can really tell a difference, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I'd appreciate any info or suggestions.  ;D

See, Ed, even this old dog can learn a new trick.  I followed your (and Joe's) instructions.  I will properly post pictures and sin no more!
(OK, I'll properly post pictures...)

Site Comments/Discussion / Resource buttons?
« on: January 10, 2007, 02:19:53 PM »
Would it be possible to get the various resource buttons on the bottom of the forum pages?  I realize they are on the "newCRGforum" page, but that makes for several extra clicks when you're researching something....

General Discussion / Harrison AC Evaporator Box Decal
« on: December 22, 2006, 03:15:10 PM »
I know I've read somewhere that the Harrison decal mounted vertically on the evaporator box.  Does anyone have a picture of an original or can you tell me exactly where (and how) it goes?

Appreciate the help!

Originality / Tower Clamps
« on: December 18, 2006, 02:33:34 AM »
I've seen varying opinions about when tower clamps were discontinued.  Does anyone have a definitive date or was it a gradual thing, especially for Camaros?

Originality / Seat Belt Tag
« on: December 08, 2006, 11:04:23 PM »
The seat belt tag reads:

Hamill          1968
Model          137
45C67

Would that be OK for a 68 12D?

Originality / GM Mark of Excellence
« on: December 02, 2006, 03:07:32 PM »
I've run across a guy who has a great looking set of (what appears to be original 68) seat belts.  My question is about the buckles.  None of the Mark of Excellence symbols have the blue paint on them --not even a speck.  (I realize that could have been cleaned off through the years.)  Has anyone seen this before? (Did any buckle in any model or year come like that?)  Does anyone know what the name or number of the color of blue is?

Originality / Astro Ventilation decals
« on: December 01, 2006, 02:16:32 AM »
Ray Miller in Camaro: Classy Chassis shows pictures of the astro ventilation decals for both the driver and passenger's sides on the 68.  The 68 AIM doesn't even mention all those "extraneous" decals that most folks scraped off right after they drove the car home.  (Then again, some folks threw away the protecto plates...)  What do the members think about those astro ventilation decals?  Is that taking originality too far?

Originality / What kind of glue?
« on: November 24, 2006, 03:23:11 PM »
John or anybody,

OK, I realize this would be a good question for Trivial Pursuit, but what kind of glue was ORIGINALLY used for things like the tire pressure or jack instructions?  The AIM shows that glue was applied (even how much) and I've gathered from other posts on CRG that this was done with a glue gun.  (JohnZ mentions that some broadcast sheets were glued to the top of the gas tank at Van Nuys.) But what kind of glue?  Clear or white? Water-soluble or not?

Site Comments/Discussion / Pictures in Messages?

Is there a way to attach pictures in email messages?  Buddy and I have tried unsuccessfully several times to send a picture through the message function of CRG.

Restoration / Horn Placement
« on: September 17, 2006, 04:43:12 PM »
How about helping me fill in the blanks.
I know from a 68 RS and the 68 AIM that the horns were moved to the center. (As was true for the optional Low Note horn.)  Was that true on all RS models 67 & 69?
"Normally" the horns on a 69 were on straight  brackets off each side of the hood latch brace...?
On 68 they were on the driver's side... How about 67?
Were there any other exceptions concerning horn placement from the factory?
