Just curious, what determines one's status on the Forum - e.g. Newbie, Jr. Member or Veteran?

Maintenance / Voltage regulator not working properly?
« on: March 26, 2006, 02:49:53 AM »
The connector to my voltage regulator wasn't completly snapped in, and it came off while driving down a bumpy road.  The battery died and upon inspection I found the connector to the regulator had come free so I reinstalled it firmly and got a jump.

The regulator and alternator worked properly and started re-charging the battery, but when I went to drive the car again I noticed that characteristic "whining" sound that comes from the regulator being in the "charging" position.  The battery is fully charged but the system won't stop over-charging it.

It's a rebuilt alternator and new voltage regulator.  I've attached a picture of the voltage regulator.  There doesn't appear to be any adjustments.

Any ideas what's up?  ???

Originality / Please see picture of my 327 - question on originality
« on: February 11, 2006, 01:40:26 PM »
I've got a 327/210, and I'm bringing it back to original.

Notice the color of the engine block.  I plan to paint this back to the original orange but I'd be open to any feedback on what else may need to be done.

The alternator is incorrect, which may be the cause of my blown fuses.  I've purchased the correct alternator (amp rating) and will reinstall.

Notice the chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner.  Are these supposed to be orange, black - or another color?  I can't seem to find the correct non-chrome valve covers, which makes me think they were chrome from factory?

Is the air cleaner supposed to be the black snorcle-type?

Thanks for your assistance.

I've got a beauty - 36k original, documented miles, all driven in CA except for last 2k!

Originality / 68 Convertible Reveal Moldings
« on: January 25, 2006, 11:37:03 PM »
Did 68's come with snaps for the boot cover for convertible tops?  I posted a similar msg in another thread, but need a definitive answer as I'm having hard time finding replaccment moldings.

Here's a picture of my moldings that have snaps:

Maintenance / Driver's side door stuck shut..
« on: December 30, 2005, 08:39:20 PM »
Anyone figure out how to open a stuck driver's side door?  The thumb button to open the door from the outside is also stuck in the "open" position, but the door won't open.

Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks -

I've got a 1968 RS Convertible with two-tone interior - the seats and door panels are gold with black accent.  The very upper portion of the door panels are black (by the door lock) but the rest of the door panel is gold.  The seats are gold in the center (about 18" wide), with black surrounding the rest of the seat.  Back seat and rear side panels are the same.

The car was built in Los Angeles, and I was told the interior was special ordered.  Noone I've spoken to (Rick's Firstgen, Classicindustries, etc..) has much knowledge of this option.  I don't have the protecto-plate and have yet to search for the build sheet, so I'm SOL until I find it.  One person at Classicindustries did say they knew of this special order interior and said it was very rare.

Would appreciate any help - this is kind of driving me nuts.  I just got the car a month ago and want to begin restorations.

???

Thanks,
Don
