sure will try to take some pics...the owner wasnt so keen on takin pics, but he did not protest when i insisted...I think he is more paranoid about getting ripped off tahn anything...apparently he has a rather large collection of parts too, so I really dont blame him......but Ill see what i can do...

  Thanks again guys...

I must be getting better at this...I thought it looked bogus...and the rivets were the first giveaway...ita amazing because the owner is supposed to show me the original vin stamped DZ block and trans this week...I guess maybe its a real car that somone changed the tag back in the day?? I really dont believe the current owner of the car has a a clue about fake trim tags...

well, if nothing else. heres one for the database of 'bogus' cars.... Did they even have x-codes at this period of time?   Thanks again CRG!!

Im going to go visit the prior owner from the mid 80's this week...maybe he can help...I just have to find my original block...and then I'll have my proof positive!!!

Did 69 Z-28's come with M-20's  ?? Is it rare??  thanks alot!!!

40  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 LA Z..Real..or??? have #'s and pics... on: January 13, 2008, 09:41:27 PM
well, I got the trans back in and got the old Z fired up today...it was nice to feel her going through the gears again...

anyway, i took some more pics..

Am I correct to say the car has a M-20? and does that narrow down the possibilities as to the car's originality??

heres a pic of te trans...apparently i have a newer shifter...
41  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67/68 z28 cowl plenum on: January 12, 2008, 06:28:20 PM
i have a cowl plenum unit that i purchasd and it had what looks like possibly a K and n type filter...the material under the mesh is purple color...I know that Ive seen them on cars with I believe a brushed alum?? lid...I dont see any type of numbers on the filter...but, it seems to fit well...Ill try and post a pic if i can
42  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 LA Z..Real..or??? have #'s and pics... on: January 12, 2008, 03:10:00 PM
and the front stamp......

....they both are on the passenger side of the car facing the same direction...
43  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 LA Z..Real..or??? have #'s and pics... on: January 12, 2008, 03:08:48 PM
a bit closer..the rear stamp...
44  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 LA Z..Real..or??? have #'s and pics... on: January 12, 2008, 03:07:55 PM
more info on the trans...the trans has 2 grooves on the input shaft...   Huh   which i assume means it is an M-20......which is probably not great news...I assume I could have known for sure what the car was originally if it were an M-22 with no grooves...or an M-21 with 1 groove...correct me if I am wrong please...so being an m-20...does that narrow it down any?? does that eliminate the car being an original Z???

heres some pics a few have requested ..for location sake
