1  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 1968 10 bolt rearend carrier swap on: January 23, 2008, 10:00:29 PM
So if the gears are 3.08 already could he go with lower ones, But if his gears were in the 2.0's  the carrier would most likely not accept 3.08 or lower is that correct?
2  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Leaf spring removal on: January 23, 2008, 08:34:39 PM
So no gas tank removal or anything like that right? I have dismantled junk cars in the past with no regard for beating up something to get them out, It's just been too many years to remember the details
3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Leaf spring removal on: January 23, 2008, 07:24:18 PM
It doesn't look like there is a whole lot of room to slide the bolt out of the leaf spring shackel. Has anyone had problems getting that out ?
4  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Sending Unit / Fuel Gauge Reading Problem. on: June 20, 2007, 10:18:24 PM
Mine was doing something similar, The pickup tube where it comes up out of the tank was not attached good to the round flat base, (where it is crimped on) I guess making a bad ground.

Didn't the 69 firebirds have something like a comfort grip on them?
7  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 68 SS hood ornaments on: June 12, 2007, 04:16:24 PM
I thought rich had said the 68 ss hood ornaments went from the finned to the oil cooler type in nov or dec of 67. I will check the e-mail from him when I get home.   Here it is

In your visual I.D. table you show the 68 ss hood inserts for the 350 as being the finned type, while in articles by others they talk about a change to the venturi type some time after jan. Which of these is correct?   Thanks Darryl

I'm trying to recheck for you based on newer data.  We have an indication that a
change occurred in October, but we need to update the data, which we haven't
done in awhile.  Rich

You didn't reply to my follow-up, but our research re-cap says that cars built
early Nov or before have the 67 version, with the later type appearing by 12E on
cars shipped after 1 Jan.  Not sure of the weeks in between, but my bet would be
that this was a circa 1 Jan change.  We'll continue to try to pinpoint it.  Rich

8  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: list of GM parts still produced on: April 15, 2007, 03:34:35 PM
Thats what I was looking for, every time I go to my local dealer It's hit or miss, most times miss.
9  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / list of GM parts still produced on: April 14, 2007, 10:34:04 PM
I was just wondering, does anyone have a list of parts, or is there a book that shows what parts are still available from GM ?
10  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: engine code on: April 13, 2007, 09:17:05 PM
Is there any way to track the type of car by that partial vin?
11  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: engine code on: April 12, 2007, 10:18:06 PM
Here are all the numbers  Front pad 19l049561  vo327hn ,  on the backside of the block drivers side 12 gm, and 3956618 ,and on the pass side c259, and in the middle behind the distributer a number 3
12  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / engine code on: April 12, 2007, 09:59:27 PM
On the front pad of one of my engines it has  V0327HN with a vin of 19lo49561. My questions are what was the  Engine Application Suffix Code HN used for ?  and any guesses on the partial vin (what vehicle)
                                                         Thanks Darryl
13  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: The correct starter on: April 04, 2007, 06:04:56 PM
No. I had been using an old cast iron bell housing that the starter bolted into. I now am using the correct bell housing and needed a starter to bolt up to the block. By the way the one for the 396 with the staggered bolt holes worked.
14  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 3 speed shifter problem on: April 04, 2007, 06:00:49 PM
Mine was doing about the same thing, except mine is a four speed. The shifter was locking in the reverse position, but the trans was in 1st, it always happened when going from 1st to reverse. a new shifter fixed mine.
