Can I get a link to the thread?

Look in the “Restoration” section in this forum. I brought it to the top…

David, Read my thoughts over on the other thread. IMHO, the adhesive was never used by the factory on this top core support seal. By the dealer, maybe. I’m still convinced it went i to production w/ clips late June per the TSB.

68 07E just clips, no glue. Yes, open part of the seal positioned toward the engine.

Go to the Restoration section, see The post on A/C seals from long ago.

Correct, I have the TSB on this as well. It lists the production dates in 68 when this all started. I’ll dig it out… You can see the foam seal in my first pic.

It’s held on with clips. The later core supports are pierced with holes across the top to push the clips into. Non-AC cars have dimples where the holes are. Non of the repro seals have aprovision for the clips/ pegs. Tough to find…

I was there for that seminar, well done. Hats off to the NOCC and the work they put in to their show.

Fyi, on the std PO1 covers used in 68-69 try not to use anything harsh on the black center insert. It will fade out and lose color quickly. I do a light cleaning then get to the stainless on a buffing wheel with a combination of rouges. Nice for a driver. I searched for a full set of boxed NOS covers just to have crisp centers.

Good luck.

I’ll concur with all the above when saying “heads”. Mine been a Day 2 L-30 since I first got it. Although I blueprinted the bottom end & added forged slugs, most of the gains came from the deck & above. I cut into a pair of 462’s. The chambers were cc’d, ports cleaned, matched and bowl work done. I went with titanium race flow valves, bigger springs, screw in studs, guide plates. I used a Z intake, minus the plenum, again ported and matched to the heads. On top of that is a 1” spacer & a 780 Holley. This all works sitting on a zero deck block, as cast it was way out of spec. Camshaft, critical….I’ve run a bunch. Currently running a hyd roller along with roller tip rockers ( fit under stock covers) .

Great! Thank you for the info & pics. I still have mine, but it too was covered in a light surface rust. I assumed it was natural. My heat tube was always black… guess I need an NOS one now!
