Restoration / Alternator Belt Tension Adj Bolt
« on: January 27, 2023, 12:50:20 AM »
Is there an absolutely factory correct alt tension adjustment bolt available?  I just got the bolt kit which has the pivot and adjustment bolt and it’s all black EDP coated.  The pivot bolt yeah, but I’m pretty sure that the adj bolt was zinc plated.  The flat faced bolt I see out there doesn’t look right either.
Anything out there that’s correct???

General Discussion / What does "T-3" stand for in GM Headlamps

Talking to a friend last night and he told me that T-3 means something - like and engineering term, test or something like that.  He said that Mike Joy was talking about that subject during a Barrett Jackson auction broadcast, but can't remember the details...  I know that the T3 headlamps were made by Guide, which was bought by GM in the early days to be a subsidiary of Delco-Remy.

Anyone have a clue?

Good advice I'd say.

I get the gist of electric transportation, but the infrastructure is not ready at all.  Plus - think about it - what does it take to make these batteries?  What does it take to make the electricity to charge these things.  What happens in ten years when its time to replace the battery - you have the $$ to replace it?  Who's gonna recycle it?

Sorry - not for me.

I agree with William. A CE block car does not bother me in the least bit.

It will when it comes time to sell.  Its not the engine it rolled out of the factory with - but I respect William's point of view.

I have the 69 Manual and its great - but - I disagree on some of the details that are claimed to be "absolute".  I like the detailed pics....

Between JMN's books and these manuals, there is no way you can build one of these cars incorrectly.

This is the point where ya have to sit back, clear your head, and really think.
Yeah - this is a cool car no doubt.  Is it worth it? - Depends.
If it were a "family air loom" then yeah.  Just get ready to spend BIG $$$$$$$.  If not - I'd run.
Last thing you want is to buy it, get it home, then realize "what da hell have I done".
Good luck!!!!
