Decoding/Numbers / 9F dated voltage regulator on an 06A car???
« on: January 06, 2021, 12:03:28 AM »
A friend of mine told me his original 06A 69 SS 396 has a 9F dated voltage regulator.  Didn’t argue but is that possible?

I guess it could be because no one knows what week 06A cars were made???

Late build car - early built regulator?

General Discussion / BR vs B-R on Delco Coils
« on: October 12, 2020, 10:35:36 PM »
Ok.... I have two Delco coils.... 270 BR and 270 B-R.  I read that the BR is for 68 and B-R is for 69.  The BR is the original coil to the car.....not B-R.  69 SS 350 with cowl induction O6A build.  Can anyone clarify why the disparity and what’s the difference between them?  I know that the BR means ballast resistor,  but why the difference?  Was there a manufacturing change, etc???

General Discussion / Multi Leaf Spring Plates - 69 SS
« on: August 28, 2020, 12:03:37 AM »
Gotta stupid question.

Is there a difference between the right / left lower spring mount plates?

I see different part numbers for r/l units, but can't see the difference.....however, I noticed that the lower left shock mount on my car makes the shock mounting stud go in an angle that is not the same as the shock mount itself.  Just doesn't look right.  When its tight the stud is not in line with the rubber donut.  Looks crooked.

If there's a difference, do I have the plates reversed?

Restoration / 69 Turbo 350 Converter Cover Bolts
« on: June 22, 2020, 01:57:22 AM »
Need a favor......can someone show me a picture of what the 4 bolts look like that hold the torque converter cover onto the transmission.....??

Not sure if they are the same as the manual trans cover?  I know what they (manual trans) look like...just not sure about the TH 350 cover bolts...

I'd appreciate it.......can't seem to find anything on the net / vendors about dedicated TH 350 cover bolts.

Maintenance / No slot on rear backing plates
« on: May 05, 2020, 02:59:33 PM »
Wanted to adjust the parking brakes on my 69 SS.  Went underneath and noticed there weren’t any slots to gain access to the adjusting wheel inside the drum.  I didn’t see any knockouts but maybe I wasn’t looking hard hard enough.  I would think there would be a rubber plug to remove to gain access, but nothing.  Did 12 bolt rears not have these holes/access slots???

Garage Talk / Carlisle Events
« on: May 05, 2020, 02:14:49 AM »
OK.......the folks at Carlisle moved the spring event into June......

Do you really think it'll be a safe place to go with thousands of people walking around with the coronavirus still going strong?

I can't see it happening, but....what do you folks think?  They can have all the safety stuff in effect, but you know someone will end up catching it or spreading it......

Would you go?

Originality / 69 Heater Control Lens Lettering
« on: April 25, 2020, 11:47:47 PM »
Ok.....I see there are two different lens used on the 69 Camaro...(and Nova, etc).

I noticed there are ones with the marks that indicate fan speed and others without the marks.

Is there a time as to when each was used????  I would assume that the lens with the Fan Speed marks were used on later models??

Any takers?

Restoration / Power steering date code vs Car Build Date
« on: April 02, 2020, 11:24:30 PM »
Folks,

Gotta question......I have a 69 SS350 - 06A car (which could be the whole month of June)...but my power steering box is dated 274 8.

We're talking almost 8 months difference.....To me that's way too early of a date that would correspond to the car build date...or is it?

General Discussion / Chambered Exhaust Hanger Question
« on: January 12, 2020, 02:36:43 PM »
I bought a chambered exhaust system for my 69 SS.  The system came with a correct hanger kit from a prominent Camaro parts vendor.....which really doesn't matter..

The kit looks correct, but I have a question concerning the "over the axle" hangers.  The ones I have look like "U" hooks.  There are others kits I saw that look more "L" shaped.

So...I'm thinking something isn't right....

Can someone with a chambered system PLEASE take a picture of what yours looks like installed on the car, and their location.  Looked through the site with no luck.

Thanks....I'd appreciate any help.

General Discussion / Drop of oil at the steering column boot
« on: May 04, 2019, 11:33:48 PM »
Interesting......i was vacuuming out my 69 Camaro and i noticed a drop of oil was on the steering column round boot that meets up with the plastic firewall guard.  I have console gauges and looked at my nylon oil line, but it looked good...no leaks...

Where would the oil come from?  Any thoughts?

Thanks...

Originality / Bumper Jack Color
« on: February 17, 2019, 02:56:35 PM »
OK....I've read that the jack mechanism and base are painted a semi gloss grey.

I painted mine with 1605 Krylon Dove Grey, but it looks too dark....

Is there a correct paint out there??  If so what is it exactly?

Jerry says its a semi gloss grey....that's great, but what shade?

I was wondering what jacking instructions were pasted under the trunk lid of Camaros with SS / N66 wheels built in Nov / Dec timeframe.

I know there were different instructions used after 8/69 build cars with N66 for the late 69's...

Just wondering how good it is....and if anyone has used it for their cars.
