« on: October 02, 2022, 04:49:23 PM »
Looking to remove my stock exhaust manifolds in my SS 350.. any pointers before I tackle this?  Looks like the passenger side is a breeze, but the drivers side looks a bit more of a pita.
Appreciate any real world experience on this…. thanks!!

Originality / Cowl Induction Air Cleaner Paint
« on: June 14, 2022, 04:29:02 PM »
Ok folks - here we go again with conflicting information on paint used on cowl induction air cleaners - Jerry's book says it should be 60% gloss black.  The Legends book says its supposed to be gloss black.

Now I'm no expert, but I've never seen a cowl induction air cleaner in gloss black.......so who's right?   :-\

Thanks..... just trying to get this right.

Garage Talk / 2022 Spring Carlisle
« on: April 27, 2022, 10:56:03 PM »
Anyone go to spring Carlisle this past weekend?  I went - was very disappointed....almost a total waste of time if you were looking for anything Camaro related......

A guy had a 69 AM/FM blue light stereo - looked like it was pulled out of a river - $400 - a rusted hulk.  Can't imagine what the electronics looked like inside.  Thing is - I almost went for it......

IMO, The days of decent finds are long last gone...

Maintenance / Master Cylinder Rebuild????
« on: January 31, 2022, 12:32:17 PM »
I've had my master cylinder re-sleeved by White Post back in 1990....
I used DOT 3 in the beginning, then changed over to DOT5 back in 1995, thinking that it would last w/o absorbing water.

Is it time I should rebuild the master cylinder with new seals?  I didn't know White Post won't honor their lifetime warranty if DOT 5 is used...(makes me wonder why).
Its seems to me that the pedal is going down further than it used to, and I see no leaks......so I'm thinking a rebuild is in order because of the age of the seals???

Thanks...

General Discussion / Spare Tire "J" Hook Length
« on: January 27, 2022, 03:00:31 PM »
OK.....the Camaro Legends Judging book says that the J hook for a coupe is 7.5".  (I'm beginning to hate that book).....lol.

So I looked at mine, which is too long according to the book.....measured out 7.5", taped off where the cut would be.
Placed it back where it normally would be and its too short!!!
Spare tire is a Goodyear Wide Tread F70-14, like the rest of the tires on the car.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Garage Talk / Pomona Swap Meet
« on: January 20, 2022, 11:24:42 PM »
Since I'm use to Carlisle swap meets, what is the deal with Pomona?
Is it true the gates open around 4am???  People walking around with flashlights - and its closed at 2pm?  Its just one day???
That's kinda early for me - don't see the logic in it, but being from the east-coast - we just don't see things like the folks on the left coast do... :D

Restoration / 69 L48 Throttle Linkage
« on: January 16, 2022, 11:58:49 PM »
Can someone with an original SS 350 / L48 show a picture of what holds the throttle arm to the carb linkage?  I would love to see both sides where the the throttle arm is connected to the carb, and how it is connected to stay put.

Thanks in advance!!!

Restoration / Heat Riser Position
« on: November 12, 2021, 02:28:34 AM »
I'm ready to install a new exhaust on my car and wondering if there was ever a consensus on how the heat riser is installed?
Is the weight near the frame rail or under the exhaust manifold.???????

I saw pics of so called original engine bays and saw them installed both ways - what's the deal folks?????

Thanks!!!

General Discussion / 69 SS 350 PCV
« on: August 22, 2021, 01:13:49 AM »
Need the correct GM / AC Delco part number for the PCV on my 69 SS350 - Auto.
I have the GM parts manual and it says its a CV-676C - which is not the right part.
Its shaped like a nut with a nozzle on it.  Never saw one like that.
Trying to find an NOS one with the AC "CV" prefix on the part number.
Thanks

General Discussion / 69 Z28 Experimental Headers
« on: May 17, 2021, 10:57:23 PM »
Saw these on a 69 Z at a local cruise.  These are quite interesting.  Maybe a Bill Thomas / Kustom kinda thing.  They resemble Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers.
I asked the owner if he knew anything about them - he said they came with the car.

Does the rear proportioning valve that is under the drivers door follow the same dating convention as everything else?
In other words, would this valve be dated a month or so prior to the build date?
Wondering, because these valves weren't used on every Camaro produced, therefore they weren't produced in the same quantities as alternators, water pumps, etc.
So it would seem that you could have a valve dated a few months prior to being installed on a car, therefore the question arises?  Is it original to the car?
Maybe they were all blank, then date stamped before installation?

In other words, you'd have an 04A car with a valve dated 072-0.

Possible?  Inquirng minds need to know!!!!
