The wheelhouse undercoating was applied after paint at the factory. I see blue but no gold beneath the undercoating.

I think you hit it...................I'm thinking someone pulled a switcheroo on the trim tag sometime in the car's past.  I hope I'm wrong.

My thinking is that this car is a flip, restored by someone / company that simply doesn't know better - AND - made for buyers who don't know any better.

Plus  - Its sold. 

The person who bought this car won't be too happy if / when they call JMN to certify it.

If you have any electro-mechanical skills - you can do it yourself.  Just have to be logical about how it came apart and how it goes back together.

For those into the G56 Camaro and its accomplishment at LeMans last year, the G56 Camaro will be available in 1/18 & 1/43 scale.  You can find more info on Hendrick Motorsports website.  Warning - they ain't cheap - BUT they're gonna be nice.

I'm sure JMN chimed in on something like that on this forum.  He would know, or just follow what the GM manual recommends, except maybe go synthetic. 
Not sure how that would work mixing synthetic with residual dino-gear oil.

Not to complicate things, but the Camaro Judging Manual says that the U bolts are black.......maybe a black phosphate?  See page 75 where it talks about the rear springs.  I looked this up because I almost took mine off to make them grey phosphate.

I don't think any additive will help at this point.  Being that you adjusted the noise away and it came back indicates to me that you have a cam lobe wiping or the associated lifter is cupping out.  I would stop running it until you investigate further.  Your putting metal particles in the oil, and that will lead to a total rebuild.

I think Bob Harris (Camaro Specialties) has the correct ones.  A friend of mine bought a set from him for his Z and it sits perfect.
