Marty, I've got my 12B Norwood car with A/C. Engine build is 11/21 and it has its original 61a alternator. I'll post the stamp info when I get a chance.

The "^^" is the letter "M" for the old Modine logo.

Ha! 5 minutes after this post I noticed a Modine radiator and oil cooler in the 05 BMW I'm currently working on. :)

Yeah, it looks like they got out of the automotive market maybe 8-10 years ago. I bought a Modine for my 79 Z28 about 13 years ago. It was a nice all brass soldered radiator. I guess its too hard to compete with all the plastic tank junk from China.

"^^" Might be a Modine, I think that used to be a popular replacement brand. Good quality stuff from what I remember.

Could have been a Muncie 3 speed. I think they use the same speedo hole as the 4 speed and the shifter hole is similar to the 67 and 68. I cant see the pics too well in the ad but, the shifter hole looks rectangular originally.

The front drums that were on my 68 RS are non-finned. The rears were finned but I don't believe they are original, they don't fit that well. The car is a 12D LOS. 327 2bbl Powerglide. Manual drum brakes and manual steering and no other significant optons. I can post the casting numbers if need be. Are there date codes on drums? Hope this helps.

Check for the correct pulley diameter also. Pump and fan could be spinning a bit too slow at idle. I chased this problem on a 1970 small block. I dont know the correct part numbers for L35 pulleys. Hope this helps.

You know, I'd like to see fasteners made correctly but I think before anything else, I'd like to see someone make quality rubber products. My weatherstrips cracked up way too quickly. For any repro parts, I believe equal attention needs to be given to the construction (compounds, metalurgy, processes) as to the appearance. I bought too many nice looking, almost correct parts that didn't last, if they didn't break upon installation. My car gets used a lot and does not always get to stay in a garage.
Build em for cars to be driven 30,000+ miles rain, shine or snow!

Is that a mono leaf 12 bolt? Or at least the shock plates?

General Discussion / Re: 12 bolt axle shaft length?

Thanks Ed
A lot of replacement axle shafts are listed at 29.5".  Any ideas why? Different measurement points?

General Discussion / 12 bolt axle shaft length?
« on: December 04, 2011, 04:15:01 AM »
Hey Guys, I did a 12 bolt swap last weekend on my 68 and now i notice my brake drums are about 1/4"(visual) more away from the backing plate than when the 10 bolt was in (also compared to the OE 12 bolt in my 69). So, my questions will start with...does anyone know the correct length of the 12 bolt drum brake axle shaft? I spent a few hours trying to research it but found what I thought to be conflicting information, sources stating anywhere from 29.5", 29 9/16" on up to 30.5". I'm trying to get an idea whats wrong based on some measurements and some known figures before taking the axles back out. I'm thinking someone put some Chevelle or second gen axles in this thing before I got it but I want some reliable measurements to go off of. I realize I've got alot of things to verify before jumping to any conclusions but that measurement is bugging me.  :)   Thanks for any help.

I wish I knew all the known details of the original tags that separates them from the fakes, but I believe its a good idea to keep it confidential among those who figured it out. Hell, I wish I knew a lot of things that I didnt have the patience or the passion to figure out on my own. I think I'll settle for appreciating their advice.

General Discussion / Re: 1969 z28 dz 302 compression results low?
« on: November 19, 2011, 03:09:00 PM »
Compression specification for the 302 in the service manual shows 190psi with a maximum variation of 20psi between clyinders. Leak down was 10% or less? does it run poorly or lack power? If leak down test is ok, I would suspect cam timing or valve overlap and verify actual compression ratio (piston dome, 64cc chamber and head gasket thickness). I don't own a 302, just trying to help.
