Finally have permission to post my report and all the paperwork from this Yenko Supercar.  I was banned from the SYC years ago, don't care.  I have been a core member on CRG for over 25 years, so here is more data on this car and my report.  Many are telling me this may be the find of the 21st century.  An amazing rust free Yenko Camaro, not cut up and an easy car to restore.  Contact me of you have any questions about the car and history.

Sharing with the group here.  Last month a newly discovered '67 Yenko converted Camaro was found after 50+ years.  It was disguised as a Z28!  I've inspected and certified the car two weeks ago.  It belongs to a personal friend of mine.  The car will be sold, it has full docs and all original sheet metal, no rust!  Loaded with factory installed options too, AO2, A67, G80 3.73, J52, L78, M21, N34, U35, U63, Z22 and Z23.  Shipped new to Craig Chevrolet, Edmond, OK.  Missing the original CE engine and M21 and that's it.  The original rear axle and traction are still in the car.  Car will need to be restored but it will be an easy restoration.  WD had all of the paperwork on this car including the D. Harrell paperwork and it has the complete title history.

An amazing find in 2024.

General Discussion / Kelsey Tire
« on: October 12, 2023, 06:35:14 PM »
I received a call yesterday from Kelsey Tire.  I was told that John Kelsey passed away last month.  Ann, his daughter reached out to me about an hour ago.  John and I worked together on many projects and was one of the best in the restoration market.  John took on a project for me making the 7.35 x 15" redline Power Cushions for the '67 Z28 several years ago.

Ann also told me that the company will continue on.  She had been working with her dad over the past two-three years.  So, the good news is Kelsey Tire will continue on.  RIP John Kelsey, you were such an asset to the vintage car hobby.

I have documented one factory grind out on a '67 Z28 in which I knew and worked with the original owner back in the 1980s.  I have photos.

Originality / Re: ENGINE LIFT HOOKS
« on: September 24, 2023, 12:48:30 AM »
With the many survivor cars I have certified over the years, the Z28 will have either natural steel lift hooks or painted Chevrolet orange.  Both versions have been observed over the years, and both are accepted for restoration.

Not yet and the customer is okay with installing the 480 in his car for now but that 9H12 is a tough one to find and very rare.  We will keep the search going.

Thanks,

Jerry

I have a customer who is looking for a '68 Z28 distributor, 1111467, he has an original 1111480 9H12 late date he will trade which we have already restored.  The 467 would have to be dated 8B7, 8B8, 8A5, 8A3, 8A10 or 7J3.

Thanks,

Jerry

General Discussion / Re: 1967 L78 Valve Cover Photo Needed, Right side
« on: August 18, 2023, 02:01:31 PM »
Thanks for that photo.  I sometimes have a hard time navigating through our site.  I have never inspected an MR coded L78 that still had the original valve covers or smog on the engine.  Very rare and the covers we have for the engine are original and correct.  I wanted to double check since some of the service covers that Chevrolet made in the 1970s also have weird brackets too.

If anyone owns or knows of a 1967 375 hp Camaro with K19, we need a photo of the passenger's side valve cover.  Rebuilding an engine here at CHP and have a right side cover with bracket, just need to confirm.

Thanks,

Jerry

General Discussion / Re: Factory Chambered Exhaust-69’ 396

One more note, I was just telling Billy G. that I just installed a Gardner system on my survivor '68 Z28.  When I bought the car in 1990, the original owner has installed Corvair turbo mufflers when the car was new.  They were the hot lick for performance back in the day, and he was a professional street racer.  I left them on the car until they rotted out.  My buddy talked me into a stock style Flowmaster with cross-over muffler and 2 1/2" dia.  Left it on the car for about 15 years.  it became annoying and loud at high rpms with the factory 4.88 gears.  Can't say the car was any faster with the Flowmaster either.  Last year, I decided to install a Gardner system.  Seat of the pants, the car did not seem to suffer any street performance at all and now I can hear the solid lifters and M22.  Should have installed this years ago.  You can't go wrong with Gardner systems.
