General Discussion / RECORD BREAKING YEAR FOR CHP
« on: November 30, 2010, 02:51:41 AM »
Wanted to share this with the CRG folks and people who hang out here.  I posted a new link on our CHP home page for all to read.

In the terms of record breaking year, I didn't mean with the business.  What I'm saying is it was a spectacular 2010 racing season for Team Camaro Hi-Perfomance in both performance and competition.  Between setting a new NHRA "certified" national record and recording the quickest elapsed time & mph ever recorded by a stock 302 Z28 Camaro, we finished out the racing season in the "Top 10 Drivers" for Stock Eliminator.  Out of 233 competitors in division one's Stock Eliminator, we finished 9th in the point standings for the year.  That means a pay out for the "Top 10" drivers and some recognition at the NHRA awards banquet this Winter.

I want to thank all of our customer base, friends and family for your support this season.  Without you, this would not have been possible.  I am humbled by the whole experience this year, and it will be very hard to top this season in 2011.  We will give it our best effort though.

This new link is still in the building stages.  The paragraphs are not separated (they will be) and the software that runs it right now will not allow us to modify it.  It will be modified when time permits so that it's easier reading for everyone.  All of the photographs are posted in order for the season, starting top left to right and moving downward.  All photos are captioned too.  When you click on the photo, it will enlarge with the caption.  I hope that it gives everyone who hangs out here a better understanding of all that goes on at NHRA National Events and what is involved in setting an official NHRA National Record.

General Discussion / Prestone Brake Clean Parts Cleaner
« on: November 28, 2010, 06:12:43 PM »
Wanted to know if anyone on the forum knows where the Prestone aerosol can brake clean can be purchased?  Walmart here used to carry it and now they only stock the CRC, which we do not like at all, takes forever to dry and leaves a film.  The Prestone is in a tall yellow can.

Any help appreciated.  I have been to several stores in my area but no one carries it and CHP likes this brand the best.  Never hurts to post a request here.

Thanks,

Jerry

General Discussion / NHRA Columbus, OH Points Race
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:50:45 AM »
Just an FYI for everyone.  Went to the quarter finals in Stock Eliminator at the Columbus Points race.  Earned some good $$$$.  Qualified very well, Ben Wenzel was also here with his '67 Z28.  Wanted to say thanks to some of my Camaro customers who stopped out to check out the racing.  Gene Zoll, Bill Orndorff and Dave Welch.

Very long weekend, and a lot of great racing.  Heading back to MD in the morning.

General Discussion / RE: 1969 Z28 Camaro with Fake Cowl Tag, 9N607652
« on: July 08, 2010, 04:38:35 PM »
Does anyone who visits these boards know anything about this car?  It's a real Z28 but someone has changed the cowl tag.  Probably to change the color.  The drive train is real and the car is for sale at Ash Tisdelle Classic Cars in Orange Park, FL.  I looked at the car yesterday.

Any help appreciated,

Jerry

General Discussion / BRISTOL, TN, NHRA RACE
« on: June 17, 2010, 01:00:30 PM »
Just an FYI for everyone on this site.  Racing at the Bristol NHRA natinonal event this weekend, Fri, Sat and Sun.  Of special note, Ben Wenzel is here with his '67 Z28 too.  As many Camaro historians know Ben bought this car new and won the biggest drag racing event in 1967, the US Nationals in Indianapolis.  Ben and brother David are sportsmen legends in the world of drag racing!

We are pitted together and it's so cool to see two real 1967 Z28's parked togehter.  You will not see that at ANY NHRA national events.

Another cool car will be here too.  Donny Beeler's '67 L48 4-speed Camaro.  This Granada gold Camaro looks almost like it did when it rolled off the assembly line in 1967.  And it's fast!  Low 11 sec ET's.

What I have always loved about Stock Eliminator is the fact that this class is the only class in all of motorsports where the car has to remain almost identical to the way it left the showroom floor with the exception of safety equipment, headers and 9" rear tires.

Class eliminations for us is tomorrow.  This track is an awesome facility!

General Discussion / Atco Raceway Update
« on: April 30, 2010, 02:55:21 AM »
Just thought I'd let you all know that we thrashed the new '67 Z28 race car today.  Had clutch problems with the freshened up clutch and it slipped all the way down the track.  I aborted the run as not to ruin the new parts.  We pulled the trans and clutch at the track, took it all apart and made adjustments in my trailer on the work bench.  Put it all back together and ran quicker than the current NHRA national record both in ET and MPH.  10.51 @ 126.10 MPH.  The record is a 10.53 at 125.96.  We will go for the record tomorrow.  If we ice it down and can get the car hooked up at the starting line, it should run in the 10.40's.

More later,

General Discussion / WEST COAST RACE TRIP TO POMONA, CA
« on: February 04, 2010, 03:07:24 AM »
Latest update.

Still waiting for step headers to come back from dyno shop so I can put them back on the car.  Spare engine made 494 hp on the dyno with these trip headers.  Headers were suppose to be mailed back to me three day air from Albuquerque and went ground by mistake.  Then there is a big snow storm coming in here Friday, (taliking 12-30" now) and this might be a problem loading the car and towing if the roads are not good.  And my buddy is having trouble with his motorhome.  So, will have to keep everyone posted.  Seems that all is working against me on this trip to the west coast.  Stay tuned.

More later,

Jerry

General Discussion / RE: My Computer
« on: January 28, 2010, 12:52:14 PM »
For anyone here trying to contact me via e-mail.  Having a tough time right now.  My Juno e-mail system has crashed twice after we upgraded to 5.0 and installed a new larger hard drive for my data base.  I am hoping to be back up and running today.  I'm sorry for the inconvenieice.

Seems that the newer versions of Juno are not working as well as the old 4.0 version.  At least for me.  Never had any issues in 11 years with that system.  Juno is telling me the fix is a newer version, 5.1.83 which is what we're doing now.

One of the best in the business, (John McBeth, a Camaro guy) is taking care of me with these issues and by the time we're done, I will owe him my new '67 Z28 race car!  OMG!

Thanks,

Jerry

I am excited to tell everyone on this forum that I'll be racing at the 50th annual NHRA Winter

PROJECT STOCKER! I am trying to line up cars for certifications while I'm out
there so if anyone is interested, please let me know and spread the word for me.

Also tell all the Camaro fans in CA that I will be debuting the new Tahoe turquoise 1967 Z28 Stocker on the west coast.

They expect over 200,000 people there throughout the weekend because it's

« on: November 04, 2009, 10:19:39 PM »
I'm on the road in beautiful Palm Beach, FL.  Looking at an L48 SS.  Has anyone ever seen a Daytona Yellow w/ parchment vinyl top?  First one I've ever seen.  Real tag!  Any in the CRG data base?  On the road until the weekend.  Had to be a FL car when ordered new.

General Discussion / NHRA National Record At Maple Grove
« on: October 27, 2009, 11:03:41 PM »
Just to report to the group here, fell slightly short on the national record for D/Stock at Maple Grove this past weekend.  The weather was not there on Thursday, altitude was about 900-1000 feet.  Car ran an amazing 10.57 at 124.50 mph in that air.  The record is a 10.54.  Tried again on Friday and the air was worse, about 1400 feet, still ran a 10.58 at 124.12.  Here's the kicker, on race day, Sunday, eliminations, the car ran quicker than the national record in three rounds of the eliminator.  Only problem is record runs are not counted on race day.  I dialed the record in the first round of the eliminator, and made a little $$ in the eliminator.  Car is now n the 1.30's 60 ft times too.  So, all of the hard work this season paid off.  And thanks to many of you for your support.

Evan Smith was there who works for one of the big magazine companies and he shot the car Sat and Sunday for a Super Chevy article.

At least I know that the car is ready and in the right weather, I should be in the high 10.40's.

I'm in Missoula, MT now.  What a hike to get here!!  I didn't even know that Camaros were here!

Cold in Montana,

General Discussion / SPECIAL CAMARO EXHIBIT AT HERSHEY, PA MUSEUM
« on: October 13, 2009, 07:17:39 PM »
I took the blue '67 Z survivor up to the AACA museum in Hershey, PA yesterday.  The AACA museum is having a special Camaro exhibit now through April, 2010.  That will be a nice place to store the car for the winter.  The Otis Chander ZL-1 was there when we arrived yesterday.  Many Camaros will be there.  There are some very rare cars here.  The GM Future liner is also there for a while.

General Discussion / Big Win @ Maryland Int'l Raceway
« on: September 27, 2009, 08:23:26 PM »
Just thought I'd post this to the group.  Had a big win this weekend at the IHRA's President's Cup Nationals in Budds Creek, MD.  Won the D/Stock class trophy and also received the "Best Engineered Race Car" award on Saturday.  Photo enclosed.

This makes up for all the trailer towing BS and Barney Fife cop who pulled me over in NC last week.

General Discussion / Towing Car Trailers In NC
« on: September 17, 2009, 03:06:41 AM »
Does anyone know about towing car trailers through NC?  I got pulled over today on the way to the Charlotte race track by a state trooper.  He told me that I have to go over the scales and anything over 10K in gross vehicle weight has to do so.  I had never heard of this as I am not commercial.  No lettering on the truck or trailer.  This cop was an a- hole too.  I have to wonder if this applies to personal vehicles and was this guy just being a jerk.  Detained me for about an hour, and wrote me a warning ticket.  In the 30+ years that I've been towing car trailers, this has never happened anywhere in the country.  Ruined my day!  I would like to know what NC law states??
