Pace setter stripe and CI hood look tasteful on this car.

I have noticed that the street rodders  seem to be switching over to LS platforms in greater numbers and I am noticing more vintage blocks and heads for sale lately.

General Discussion / Re: If Anyone is Interested in a 67 Pace Car
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:01:00 PM »
In 2001 I built up a supercharged 1.6L  "B" series 1995 Honda and did a F+F car.   Still have the car today... the modifications are tasteful and the car has 54,000 Miles on it and for a 4 cylinder it is pretty fast    The Honda still attracts everybody from the 35 year old down to the 16 year kids when displayed.    When parked alone it gets all the attention, however when the Honda is displayed alongside any of the first or second Generation Camaro's I have things change as the focus turns to the Camaro, so I ask "which do you like better-the Honda or the Camaro?"

It is always the Camaro - each and every time.

They always say "I cannot afford the Camaro".    Why is that I ask?    The answer is usually along these lines:  "You old guys still fight over these cars and we are priced out of the market..I cannot afford a Camaro that is not a 1975-1977 but I still want a good one.

The follow up is the kicker...I ask what are you going to do about it.... the reply is "get a better job and wait you guys out - we will get your cars eventually".

When I was doing the research for Echoes of Norwood I assisted GM Media Archives in identifying many of the vintage assembly photos due to the architectural differences between the two plants.  Having the Blueprints for NOR helped greatly in this effort.     During the process photos were also found that were not categorized correctly.  This was the fun part of the research.

The trans should have the VIN derivative on the left top upper flange at the very rear edge of the point where the engine and the trans is bolted together.

I just looked at the Hi Res Image of the SS verts on the transporter in the book "Echoes of Norwood".

They all have Firestone Wide Ovals on them.

Good info Festival, can you post a picture of that? We are all fans of pictures here, thanks!

Picture is covered by a copyright agreement.  I cannot post it on the internet.  For those with the book "Echoes of Norwood" turn to page  128.

Mark,

For NOR I have a picture in the book showing this element taking place on the line.  I did not precisely determine where just yet but that would be easy enough since the vending machines are in the background.  I can look at the prints for vending areas that were set up adjacent to the paint line areas.

We could simply ask the guys that did this work, or you could ask these same guys this question and many more on any topic.  I still have a few spots open for the Norwood GM Heritage center trip and tour.

Mark,

The tail panels were painted at NOR on the open line area at nearly the same time the RS Black out was painted.  This was completed external to a booth.

Cool, we will be waiting to see what you can find out.

Thanks Mark!

For the rest of you who may be interested in exploring research first hand -this is a great opportunity to share in the rediscovery of the details of historic Manufacturing and Assembly practices associated with GM and its products.
