541  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Another ebay 69 with fake tag on: June 13, 2013, 07:27:20 PM
When was the smaller early tag replaced by the later bigger tag? If that is something that shouldn't be known for obvious reasons by all means don't answer that. I'm just curious. That car is probably not too far from where I live. New Castle county line is just a few minutes drive from my house. That Price person has a lot of Honda dealerships here in Delaware.

So the VIN is real but the TT is bogus. Is the real car that has that tag even out there or is somebody taking artistic license? I would freak if I saw my TT tag on another car. I guess it pays to keep your eyes open.

It's always good to see another camaro saved from the ravages of time. Very nice. Was it really bad when you started redoing it?

The L88 hood is cool but I would stop the stripe on the top and not add it to the front part of the hood. If you google motion camaros and go to images there are a load of pics to see what has been offered. For me, I would stay with the Trans Am spoiler if you do the Motion pain scheme. I think that's what sets off that look.

Either way you can't beat that look. 69 or 70's style.

I'm taking my time reading it. Just started chapter 6.

Welcome to a great site and glad to have another Cortez Silver Z owner on the board. I'm Gary, nice to meet you. Just so others won't jump on you for the misspelling. CAMARO, not CAMERO. Another Cortez Silver Z. They are popping up all over the place. Do you have any other pics of it yet as is? Would love to see how it looks before you get into it.

From what I can see from the tag, it is the narrow tag, 09B second week of September, pre-X codes. From your VIN it is really early in production so all your components will be 68 dated, probably July, August, September? Some one will most likely confirm that. Your engine suffix V0838DZ has been discussed here I think or on Team Camaro. V for Flint, 08 for August, 38 for the day, but of course august only had 31 days, and DZ is the 302 engine for 69. I wonder who owns the closest date to production start up? I'm wondering if you do. Pretty cool.

I just got your book and find it fascinating reading. Always wondered what it was like to work in that type of plant situation and other then the union part it really isn't any different than any other manufacturing business. Some of the places I worked in manufacturing all seem to have that same politics going on, time studies and so on. Somehow I thought it would be a piece of cake to work in a car plant. Heck, in 1972 I almost went to work in the Doraville GM plant in Atlanta, but I went into the Air Force instead.
549  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Up to date Ebay statistical results on: June 09, 2013, 08:51:13 PM
Got it. I think i was using spaces or wording it different somehow. I always came up with '0' auctions. Just tried 1969 Camaro -fits and works nice. Now no more garbage to sift thru. Much more refind. Thanks.

Sorry guys, I must have missed school that day. Not sure where '-fits' is supposed to be. Damnnn I need an example I'm color blind... Roll Eyes

Cob webbing...yeah I forgot about that. Do the cob webbing in the Motion paint scheme. What colors are you thinking of? Black with Silver or White stripes and black cob webbing would look outrageous.

It really looks like a GM piece to me. I could be wrong though. Wasn't the timing mark in line with the key way in 68 and older engines? I would think someone here would know something about this.

Here is a post on TC about what looks like yours.

I have always been a big fan of the Motion paint scheme, especially with the trans am style spoiler. 69 paint scheme not as much as the 70 paint scheme. No two tone top and bottom for me either. Nasty looking.

Clearly different from your everyday stripe scheme. The second gen motion scheme on a first gen would look pretty cool. Maybe leave the single over the roof stripe out of the equation and add the Z stripes but not on the roof. I like the Firebird cowl panel idea. Smooth'er out.
