Restoration / Re: 1967 starter

I think the starter also has a date code on it, if that matters. My L-34 auto was built fourth week of March,'67.

At Hershey car show or IN Hershey. I might know the car if it was IN Hershey. How about some pics.

I'm going to take a shot at this in hopes someone else will give you a better answer. To the best of my knowledge there is no BB crossmember. There is one for a  turbo 400 and another that fits all the other transmissions.

Look on the inside of the glove compartment door for air pressure decal.

It certainly WILL be interesting what happens here. I would think many of the claims of fraudulance will be brought out in court.  Jerry, or anyone else that was there, can you explain why there were several cars on Sat. PM that the price was lowered AFTER being knocked off and the car driven away? It happened at least 4 times with no explaination. My theory is the owner got stuck as high bidder and they went to the backbidder.  Any ideas?

Thanks to both for the answers. Jerry, do you know if this the white '67 that was for sale at Hershey about 10 years ago? I believe the owner at that time was in a wheelchair. I don't remember the interior color.

General Discussion / One more question about BJ
« on: February 18, 2007, 01:34:38 AM »
I just saw the auction reports in OCW about the 2 '67 Z-28s at BJ. I think one was listed as No.2 condition and sold for $100K, the other was no. 1 selling at $125K.  Can anyone that was there that looked at them give a review?  How authentic were they? If you can believe a Hemi anything is worth $200K or $300K, my thoughts are these were a steal. Yea, I'd rather have a Chevy. Oh, and how about the Z-16 for $200K?

Evidense of Z-28 stripes in trunk lip and hood lip or in cowl? Under all the repaint? 4 piston calipers on front? 12 bolt rear? 3/8 fuel line from the tank? What shifter? Original colors, int and ext.? Other options? Let's have it with a full description! The casting no. will only tell you it "could" be a 302, could also be a 327. Look to the stamped no. in the front. Better yet, get the book Chevrolet by the Numbers and start from scratch, carb, water pump, intake, distributor, etc.

Garve, good find. Do some research you will be able to prove to yourself that it is indeed a Z-28. First look at the tire pressure decal in the glove box. If the tire size is E70X15 inch, you on your way. Does it have ralley wheels, the ones on Zs were unique. Check the date code on them. You'll find  your proof.

Does anyone know any more about the '68 Z-28 302 hemi pictured in the Feb. issue of Hot Rod? It says Smokey Yunick built the engine, looks like BB heads, sort of.

Hemming's Muscle Cars Magazine just left the cat out of the bag. Read the editorial.

Try the "show unread posts since last visit", it keeps me up to date with one click. I too don't like change for the sake of changeing, but this is an improvement. It will just take some time to get used to. Thanks to everyone that puts effort into this forum, be it an administrator or just someone helping out with an answer!

Good topic! Like a few others I was around back then, read every car magazine I got my hands on and believed what I wanted about what they said. I followed the Trans Am series in Autoweek. Magazines like Car and Driver were very biased toward European cars, so very few cars from America got good reviews, you could probably follow the $$ trail. Hot Rod did extensive tests on the first '67 SS 350 in Ca. and lied  with every word. They even put in a blueprinted 427 and said it was a 396 to lower the quarter mile times. The truest answer to your question is Chevrolet sold almost 221,000 Camaros that first year, hardly a diappointment.  I can't remember the first Camaro I saw, but I do remember my first ride {blue '68}, seeing my first '67 Z28{Mountain Green}, and riding in my first Z28{ Fathom Green '69}. I hope I never get old enough to NOT want a '67 Camaro!
