I see nothing wrong with that stamp.

Problem is the trim tag says Sierra Fawn with Black vinyl top (S-2). Somebody obviously screwed up on this car.

I keep looking at this car on eBay and the color doesn't look like the Sierra Fawn he advertises. The color looks like my Granada Gold car.

Is it my eyes, computer, what? It doesn't add up. Is the color that close to gold it's hard to tell the difference?

BTW, factory rear spoiler? Nope!

Oops, forgot the link and the color doesn't look like the one below.

Originality / Re: Correct Fan and orientation?
« on: October 05, 2006, 02:34:06 AM »
As far as I know the correct radiator for the 68 L78 is the 23" 3 row. Since A/C was not an option on an L78 I don't see a 4 row radiator being offered. The correct fan would be the 5 blade fan as mentioned with a clutch. The 7 blade was introduce in 1969.

Is there a tag on the radiator?

Mark,
And does your car have factory A/C?

Not if it's an L78.

That is not the prop valve.

Why do you say it's not the proportioning valve?

I bet he's thinking distribution valve. Different animal.

Restoration / Re: 1967 Washer Pump
« on: September 30, 2006, 04:56:48 PM »
Here is a picture of my original washer pump on my 1967 Camaro RS. This is original to my car. Note the date stamp on the wiper motor. Second pictures shows correct part number.

Also I want to point out that this style washer pump was also found on some early made 1968 Camaros.

Originality / Re: PTB stamps
« on: September 30, 2006, 02:02:11 PM »

...not that this answers your question, ...but my '67 (LOS) had no stampings anywhere (it was unrestored when I got it), ...and I believe that was the case for LA...

Kevin,
I have seen some PTB stamps on LOS built 67 Camaros but they are on the firewall under the fenders. where you can't see them. Take an inspection mirror and see if you can see them.

General Discussion / Re: 40TH camaro anniversary gathering at GM Tech center

Hopefully I wil be able to make the gathering. There is a book coming out around that time as well called the 40th Anniversary of the Chevrolet Camaro. Would be nice to have it out before the gathering.

Kevin, drive that 67 to the gathering.

My Norwood built 1967 Camaro RS did not have any PTB stamps under the hood. My car was original paint when I bought it.

I believe the different colors denoted different build shifts.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Transmission, Rear End and Trim tag

Either way, I agree that the time between drivetrain assembly dates and car build date is a little excessive.

I'll be back in town next week and will have to stop in and check it out.

The car is amazing and is loaded with originality. You should see underneath this car. Incredible.
What's amazing is that while I was walking around it, parts keep jumping into my pockets. DOH!  :o

Kidding!  ;D

Can't wait to see it again.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Transmission, Rear End and Trim tag
« on: August 28, 2006, 02:09:36 AM »
I'm a little confused about this post. You stated that the trim tag had the ACC stamp on it and you even posted the info off the tag. Now you say it doesn't have it even after you described exactly where it is located on the tag?  You even called Bob Harris to verify it.

You even questioned posts such as "Mike, if ACC doesn't mean anything then why is it there?"

What I don't understand is why is it not there after all the postings? How can you mistake that?

Also if the tranny stamp of P8R30 is correct then it it not the original numbers matching transmission for your car as you say it is. The numbers you posted are for a transmission built October 30, 1968. Your car is an 06C, third week of June 1968 which means your car was built almost 4 months before the tranmission was.

Is this car at Camaro Specialties being worked on?

Originality / Re: 68 BB fan shroud ...same as '69?
« on: June 27, 2006, 01:33:14 PM »
Kevin,
68 and 69 are not the same. They are the same for 67 and 68 but 69 is a different shroud. I believe because they moved the alternator to the other side of the engine the shroud was redesigned. Also the 69 BB uses a different upper bracket then the 69 SB shroud.
I'll look at a few today.
