General Discussion / 1967 Camaro LA VIN number 16 Body #1
« on: January 27, 2007, 03:55:33 PM »
Anybody care to comment on the 1967 LA built Camaro that sold at Barrett Jackson for $69,000??
Lowest VIN known to exist with body number 1.

Here is the link to the auction. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/carlist/cardetails.asp?In_AuctionID=221&In_LotNumber=1029

It seems there a few issues with the car that are not quite as correct as they claimed.

There's these people who go to school for a long time and they're called lawyers. If the sellers is not cooperating, get one of those lawyers and have him send a certified letter stating you intend to sue him if he doesn't refund your money. The cost of the letter is worth it, believe me.

Good Luck.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Newbie needs help Do I have a real RS/SS
« on: November 24, 2006, 03:24:13 PM »
"VO829 MS " Indicates 350/295hp with a 4 speed which would be an SS. All 1967 Camaros had mono-leaf springs so the multi-leafs are incorrect. Looks like a real RS/SS.

Nice car.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 3919803 Intake (327/275 HP and 350/295 HP???)
« on: November 20, 2006, 07:01:21 PM »
The correct 1967 327/275hp and 350/295hp intake is 3905393 and the 1968 intake for the same engines is 3919803. Most likely with the late build date on the intake it was meant for an early build 68 Car. If you look close at the 803 intake you will notice that the temp sensor hole is factory plugged or at least it should be. The temp sensor went into the head in 68.

General Discussion / Re: 67 REAR ANTENNA OPTION
« on: November 20, 2006, 01:17:00 AM »
This is an observation and it's your preference to put on a rear spoiler if you choose to do so but remember NO 1967 Camaros came from the factory with rear spoilers.
To drill into a GM quarter is one thing but if you have your original rare one year only deck lid and want a rear spoiler, use a repop deck lid and save your original to replace later on.

Just a suggestion.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 67 RS/SS 350 Casting number (3892657 or 3903352)
« on: October 30, 2006, 02:05:48 AM »
The block you want is the 3892657 and built at the Flint plant. The 657 block was used on the 350 as well as the 327. The 3903352 was used from the middle of the 1967 year on 327 motors only. I highly doubt you will find one in an SS350 car.

The 2-3 week rule is not necessarily true. I have an 03D built car with a January built motor. My block is the 3892657. You could go back as far as April on your car. Look for any 657 block from April to mid June.

I thought I read one of these threads where it said that the cowl vent panel was painted and striped off the car, so stripe color should not be in the cowl area? ???

The stripe color will be in the cowl area. The cowl area got the same color as the stripes. One of Jerry's books has a couple of good pictures showing how they were done.

My 1967 RS built 03D has a motor built 01/26/67. Also have the POP to verify it. Ranges can vary on these cars.

"Where else can I look to determine if the vehicle had a vinyl top.?"

You just did,  on the trim tag 72 72 PNT  means Hugger Orange upper and lower. If your car had a vinyl top it would have been 72 B or 72 A.

The original question was whether his 1967 Camaro is suppose to have a rear spoiler and the answer is no. The fact still remains that no 1967 Camaro left the factory with a rear spoiler.

Who would want a Camaro without one?

Me, four. Spoilers on 67 Camaros....ugh.

The spoiler provisions/holes started showing up on the later 67 deck lids. There were at least 3 different decklid designs during the 1967 model year. Kurt??

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1967 MUNCIE TRANS VIN STAMPING
« on: October 22, 2006, 01:39:04 PM »
The tranny was stamped with it's code at the time it was built and the VIN was stamped on the tranny along with the engine after the two were put together. The stamp locations changed a little from year to year but your stamps look good.

The stampings and their locations on your transmission are correct.

Yes it is a 327, It has the ME suffix 210 horse with powerglide and no VIN stamp anywhere. I'm not sure what you mean by an engine code wother than the ME suffix? I has been converted to a 4 speed Muncie.

Without a partial VIN stamp and a stamp of ME, the engine is probably a 1967. Look at the casting date on the block. That should help you narrow it down a little.

All 350 cars were Super Sports--that'll narrow it down some.

In 1969 that is not true. The LM1 and L65 cars were not considered Super Sports.
