General Discussion / Re: Camaro Nationals Moving
« on: November 12, 2010, 01:49:50 PM »
Don't get me wrong, I throughly enjoyed going to Carlisle every year but I go where the Camaro's go.

"Is the big bitch from the Camaro Club that they were being parked away from the building where the indoor judging is ?  I think I was told that that area is for vendors just like at other Carlisle shows. Is that correct ?"

Why would you put parts vendors where the high level Camaro judging is being conducted? Does that sound logical to you?

There obviously is alot more but the decision has been made. We'll just have to see how this plays out for both parties.

For some reason this sentance taken from Rick Markko's opening statement sounds final for the Camaro Nationals at Carlisle.

"Rest assured there will be Camaros at the GM Nationals in 2011 and beyond. However, there will not be a Camaro Nationals presented by the ACA.
If that doesn't sound like, play our way or no way, I don't know what does.

I have to agree that his entire statement was designed for damage control.

As a participant and judge for the past 11 years I fully support this move. There have been some bonehead moves at Carlisle the past few years that just didn't make sense and if this is what it takes to make it a true "Camaro Nationals" so be it.  Let's not forget it was the Camaro's @ Carlisle show that started it all and the GM Nationals came years later.

Maybe Carlisle can use the unused third of the showfield as on site parking.  ;D

...that is a surprise, ...but I also think I can understand (I get some crazy thoughts myself sometimes, ...I just don't want to look back and regret it though...).
Did yours go to a 'good home'? ...hopefully we'll still see it around...

Kevin,
Remind me to tell you the whole story when we get together at Carlisle. When I sold the car I thought it was going to a good home and be left just like it was. I think I was wrong. Darn!

It's just a car, right?

...recently "SOLD" your car ??? ...say what? ... ??  (really?)

Yes Kevin, Unfortunately I sold my award winning 67 RS. It's a sale I truely regret now. At least I have the book.  :'(

I have a complete correct 1967 RS grill assembly if someone needs one. Riveted and all.

The individual who did my grill had made a jig and sands the grill down to make it correct for 1967. It looks perfect. I also had the correct upper and lower grill sections riveted on. I recently sold my car and the new complete 67 grill assembly is hanging in my garage.

As far as I know the correct 67 RS grill is not reproduced yet. The ones being sold by HBC and others is the 68 version.
Notice the availability, it says backorder which means not available...yet.

I had one made from a 68 and it's perfect.

Thanks everyone for the support. The car is sold and the new owner will be picking it up on the 20th.
Selling that 67 RS was extremely difficult.

Thanks

For those of you that know me this is a hard decision but a car is just a car and there will be others but at this time I must part with it. This car has won more awards the any other car I have owned and I have been honored to have this car featured in the book Camaro, Forty Years.

The car is on ebay and if anyone wants to discuss this car please contact me.

I am not leaving the hobby, just taking a break to resolve some issues.

I have met a lot of great people who I consider friends to this day and I will always be a part of helping the Camro community.

Thanks everyone.

It's not to say that early in life or at the selling dealer they couldn't get the car tuned properly and a dwell check confirmed that the points were jumping and they decided to replace the distributor. Hey, it happens. A quick check for a 350/300hp shows up in the parts book as 1111488 and 1111996 dependin on year but they are for the same engine and horsepower. Owner of car gets what is available and never thinks twice. Or replaced under warranty at the dealeship with what was available.
Go to any parts store and ask the person you need a part. Give the year and engine size and the part available is used in many year makes and models.

The car is almost 40 years old and anything could have happened back then.

In 1967 RPO Z23 included bright pedal trim, bright interior roofrail trim AND bright pillar moldings. According to your trim tag you do not have the Z23 option. You do have Z21 exterior style trim option.

Rick, glad you can see the hole over throttle lever! Too many shadows for me. I was gonna ask for a close-up. :)
