Would it have two vacuum ports if the car was an RS?

What about the door latches?  Were they painted as well or are they a different color or natural?

I have a 69 Camaro.  The door jamb strikers are currently painted the color of the car.  Were these painted from the factory or were they installed later and are they a different color?  If so, what color, natural, silver, black, etc?

Maintenance / TH350 Transmission troubleshooting
« on: February 01, 2006, 01:26:48 AM »
I completely rebuilt my TH350 in my 69 Camaro about 6 months ago (about 500 miles).  It worked great after that.  However, for tyhe last 3-4 weeks, when I first start it up and shift it into drive, 2nd or 1st gear. I hear the transmission engage, or some sort of clunk type noise in the tranny (but not the driveshaft), and there is no response.  The car acts as if it is completely in neutral, even though I am in a forward gear.  I rev it up and nothing.  If I go to reverse immediately after start up, there is no problem and it goes in reverse and backs up. After a few minutes of warming up, the transmission will then go into drive and act perfectly fine.  This is happening all the time.  As long as the tranny is warm, no problems.  The second it cools down, then only forward gears do not work.  There is plenty of fluid.  What do I need to look at?  All help is appreciated.

General Discussion / Reproduction 1969 Camaro Coupe Shells
« on: January 28, 2006, 05:29:54 AM »
For the 1969 Camaro I see they have the reproduction shells available in convertible.  Has anyone used these yet?  Have the hardtops been made yet as well?  Do they include the rear frame rails?  I am considering buying one if they have them since you can't seem to buy a coupe anywhere that is even remotely not trashed for a decent price.  Also, what are the titling issues if you build one from scratch?

Thanks,

Steve

This appears to be a scam to me.  The guys got a good rating, but it looks like it was artifically built up that way with a bunch of cheap auctions.  The private bidders only seems odd too.  I am probably going to stay away unless I can get the seller to allow me to go see the car before bidding.  Any thoughts from you guys out there?

General Discussion / Looking for a 1969 Camaro coupe
« on: January 24, 2006, 07:17:53 AM »
Hope this is the correct place to post this request.  I am looking for a 69 Camaro coupe.  I am looking for something with a good body and clean title.  I do not mind some rust...I just don't want to restore the titantic.  What I am looking for can have but does NOT need a motor or transmission or interior.  I am not looking for anything with a lot of options either.  If it has those things, and you still want to sell, then let me know and we'll see what can be worked out.  My biggest concern is a decent body that does not have a ton of rust through the metal and nothing that has had bad bodywork where there is more bondo then metal.  I am looking for a fairly priced car.  I have cash and looking for a quick sale.  If you think you have a 69 that you can not finish or no time to get to or maybe your wife gave you the choice of either she goes or the car goes...and she won by a margin, then let me know.

General Discussion / Re: 2009 Camaro Pictures
« on: January 20, 2006, 04:21:52 PM »
Not to tell GM and Dodge what to do...but they do need to hurry.  I am ready and have been for some time to buy a new car.  I was all geared up for a new Mustang, but decided to wait and see what Chevy's response was since there was a lot of hype about a new retro Camaro coming soon.  SO...I waited.  Now I see the new Camaro and it is less then what I expected.  But, GM still has a chance to fix it and get it made.  Next, I see the Challenger, and I could easily be swayed to give my money to Dodge.  However, my current vehicle is getting older and I really want a new car now.  Mustang is here now as well.  Could I wait for GM & Dodge til 2007, sure.  2008...maybe.  2009...Don't think I can wait that long.  I cant stand the thought of driving my current vehicle for 3 more years.  Mustang has some great options now that its been around for 2 years and is coming out with the Shelby and I have money.  If I do buy a Mustang instead of waiting for GM and Dodge to do something...I am not going to trade it in if I am still paying for it,  just to switch to the johnny come latelys.  If I buy a Mustang, I will own it for at least as long as the payments and then maybe a year or two more, just to enjoy having a car with no payments.  Which means GM and Dodge will not have a chance at getting my money until 2012 or later.  Not sure if anyone else feels the same way as I do.  I have been waiting since 2002 to see what GM is going to do and now they show me something that is not quite up to par but still has lots of potential and hope, and then they tell me I have to wait until 2009 (3 years later).  Well excuse me for getting a little bent out of shape.  If you are going to show me a prototype, then dammit, be ready to make the damn thing by next year.  I know I'm selfish but this is America...the land of next day delivery, instant messaging, and instant potatoes...and I want it now.

Really like the new Camaro.    I agree that it does need some changes that I am sure will happen.  (ie:  the side mirrors, more realistic wheels, etc. )  Overall...not too bad.  However, did anyone see the new challenger for 2007 or 08?  goto:

or goto

http://www.autoblog.com/2005/07/20/dodge-challenger-concept-set-for-detroit-auto-show/

or google it.  WOW, did Dodge hit this one out of the park.  The whole car does it for me, and with their new platforms...OMG.  Do be honest, I have owned 4 first gen Camaros and the closet I have ever gotten to dodge is my 70 Plymouth Duster and my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  This Challenger go past where the Camaro prototype falls short.  Even has great pics of the engine and interior.  Going only by what I have seen and read, I would have to say the Challenger is my choice.  Guess Ill see when I can touch and fee them and acutally buy one.  I'm ready for another car wars go get my money.  The Camaro looks forced together to obtain the 69 Highlights (falls short at the taillights though).  Whereas, the Challenger hit it on the head.  Nicely done.  Guess I'll wait to see what the final Camaro looks like.  I have owned (4) first gen Camaros and love them all and will probably build a 5th pre tour machine soon.  I am trying to be brand loyal.  But Chevy needs to tweek the proto a little to get me to buy...otherwise I may go to Dodge and see what they have.  Don't get me wrong, I love that GM is doing something finally and it looks great, but I will need more info and pricing to lay down my money.  Challenger was one of my favorites mopars growing up and I could have easily swayed that way back then.  The same may still hold true.   SO wait and see.

Not sure if this helps, but I believe you should be able to make any seat fit your brackets.  That way no floor metal is messed with.  If the seat does not fit your brackets properly, then simply use metal stock and fabricate to fit the seat to the stock brackets themselves.

« on: November 26, 2005, 06:37:41 PM »
First 67 Camaro Pic I receive gets to be on the home page for the month of December.  So send 'em in and show all your friends how cool you are having your pic on the internet...they'll be impressed for sure.  hehe.

Also, send in your 68 and 69 pics as well as I am always looking for more for the many months ahead.  I do get around to using all of the pics possible...I promise.  As for 69 pics...don't get discouraged if you have sent one and not seen it yet.  I seem to get tons of 69 pics over 67 & 68 as it is the most popular year.  I promise everyone who has sent me a pic that is usuable does get a turn.  Just make sure you check with us every month...one day yours will be up.

So send them in to:    sdkar@bellsouth.net

Thanks guys,

General Discussion / Re: new forum
« on: November 18, 2005, 02:37:57 PM »
This is just my opinion, but I find that even though the new forum is just as informative...it is more complex and not as easy and fun to view.  Not that I am incapable of maneuvering through it...it is just that is seems like work now and not as enjoyable.  Now I have to select each topic individually and go in and out of windows and move around the site alot just to get the same information.  I find that most of us 67-69 Camaro guys like things simple. (Not speaking for all of us Camaro owners, just something I have observed in my small world.)  I used to check in every day to see what is going on and now I find myself coming here maybe once a week.  Viewing and responding to subjects has become more of a task then simplistic method of the old setup.  I liked seeing everything at once and clicking and viewing each subject and following the threads I thought interesting.  It's not that easy anymore.  And since I am not checking in as often, I can only assume others are not as well which is why there is now less topics and responses to view and less people coming in...kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy.  Maybe it is just me and I am resisting change.  I really hate to see anything that is successful get changed...after all...if it ain't broke, don't fix it (unless its an old Camaro and you're bored).  Anyway...I agree that there seems to be less activity, which is sad...hopefully things will pick up and this is just a growing pain of the new forum.

General Discussion / R-89 battery or topper
« on: November 13, 2005, 04:43:20 PM »
My battery on my 69 Camaro is just about dead.  I am looking to get a new side post battery that is the old style R89.  Ricks has one for $285..WOW.  Is there another source?  I see there are battery toppers...but I have only found R59 top post.  Do they make a side post battery topper?  Is there a way to convert a R59 top post topper to a side post topper?  If anyone knows where to get an R89  for a better price then Rick, please let me know.  I was looking to spend about $150 at most.  If not, I guess I will just get a regular battery for now and wait to see if a side post topper ever gets produced.
