General Discussion / Re: Car show judging
« on: March 09, 2007, 08:50:48 PM »
I agree with most of everything I read in this post.  Unless I missed, at local shows chrome chrome and more chrome always wins.  Knowing what you are being judeged for ahead of time will help you know what to expect.

You know the caliber of the show when you go back every year or after missing a show for several years and you back and the same judges are still there.

But the best advise is don't get upset just let it go.

I appreciate all of the kind words said about the Camaro Nartionals at Carlisle.  It doesn't happen often but we have had mistakes.  What I take pride in is that we do out best to correct them even months after the show.  To the point to going to someones trailer that had been judged the day before and re-looking at the car and correcting an over sight.

Hope to see everyone in June at the Nationals in Carlisle.

Originality / Re: 67 Pace cars

Charley,

I want to thank you for shipping your Pace Car all over the country for Camaro enthusiast to see and enjoy.  There are not many people who would do this with a piece of history.  I appreciated the time you took a few years ago to shared all the documentation on this car and explain all the steps that took place in 1967 to produce the car.

The car is what it is and there is more than enough documentation to back it up.

Research Topics & Reports / Re: 68 RS center grille

Steve,

You could be correct on the finish of the bars/ribs.  What little I had left looked like siver paint.

As for the headlight doors I could not find when they were manufactured.  They could have all been produced at one or two times during the production year. That would explain the space in the dates you have.

Steve,

Sorry, for the delay but I have your information.

1. A. I an positive.

2. A. Yes

3. A. Black with horizontal chome stripes.  I don't believe they were chrome.  The original finish looked  like silver highlighted horizontal ribs.  I had mine painted Argent Silver a few years ago because the original finish was almost all worn off.

4. H. Never

7. There are no markings or stamps on the Drivers side of the grill.  On the passengers side there is a horizontal backwards 2 between the top and middle mold marks.  It appears the mold had a two die include and it printed backwards.  No other markings that I could find.

8 & 9.  The drivers side highlight cover has a horizantal backwards 1 (one) and the passengers side has a 2 stamped the same way.  The 2 matches the 2 on the grill.  No other markings could be found.

10. Norwood

11. The fourth week of January 1968.

12. The original engine is still in the car, L78 396/375hp.

13.  Steve, I will email you with my Vin #.  I would appreciate it if you would not share it.

I hope this helps.

Jerry,

I'm hurt!  I thought we were friends.  The month of September hosts the outstanding picture of my Matador Red 68 Camaro L78 RS/SS.

If you ever have the opportunity to work with Dan I would not turn it down.  He is great to work with, meticulous and very professional.  Gary and I towed up to New York together and had a great time.  Kevin, thank you.

General Discussion / Re: 68 shoulder harness
« on: March 03, 2006, 06:22:06 PM »
I believe shoulder belts where installed starting January 9, 1968.   I also, have been told it required delux interior. But I have seen orginial cars without delux interior that were built around that date the had shoulder belts.

My 68 was built the fourth week of January and they have them.

General Discussion / Re: 2009 Camaro Pictures
« on: January 16, 2006, 02:00:44 PM »
I think there have been alot of great responses to the Camaro Concept car.  This is why there is vanilla and chocolate or black and white.  I see alot of 67/68, 69 and 70 Camaro in the car, all the way down to the 1st Gen influnenced seat belt buckels, dashboard design, and gauge location.

There are several dealers that have more information on the car than you may think.  They are  heavily involved in making this car come to life.

Let's see what happens in the next few months, I don't think 2009 is written in stone.  The Mustang is hurting GM and Chrysler big time just like in the 60's.  The Challengar is scheduled for 2010, but they have allready said it is going to be moved.
