61  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: am fm radio multiplex on: August 19, 2013, 12:22:36 AM
I swapped - upgraded a few radios back when with units from the junk yard almost any GM radio fit almost any GM car. 30 years later you wouldn't be able to tell how or when that car got that radio. But I could also see an occasional LA car having a radio designated for another model built on the same line. They would not stop the line because they didn't have the right  radio.

Spoke to a model car guy says ATF will strip paint from plastic. Can't verify, would try a small hidden area first, but I bet you can get it.

I'm sure Jerry is not cheap. Finding out you got scammed is not cheap either, Jerry is one way to minimize that risk. Start with basic research like has been suggested by others above. If you find no issues, call Jerry before the deal is final. Good luck, welcome to the site.

68  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Not Camaro, general auto related: cruise control in rain question on: July 29, 2013, 11:06:22 AM
Wouldn't the same thing happen with your foot on the pedal? And then you would lift, like the cruise did.  I can only see the stated fear (out of control acceleration) if returning to a much higher speed with cruise on a slick surface.
69  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Not Camaro, general auto related: cruise control in rain question on: July 28, 2013, 06:50:35 AM
I have repeatedly over the years received e-mail etc warning that cruise control in rain or snow can cause the car to accelerate out of control. I just received the message again, and went to snopes.com so I could refute the message, and they confirmed it. I still do not believe cruise will ever accelerate out of control because once you go past the set speed it cuts the throttle. Am I missing something? I have used cruise in snow and rain for decades, and never had a problem. Cruise is how I stay out of traffic court, keeps my foot away from the ticket pedal.

70  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Best Method to Put in Rear Seat? on: July 16, 2013, 08:17:20 PM
Back seats can be a pain. There are normally "hooks" at the front edge mounted to the floor. Slide the back edge of the seat under the seat back. get it all the way back. Then at the bottom edge of the front of the seat, where the hooks are located push HARD to get the seat frame over and behind the hooks. Tension should snap the frame in, and hold it there. Not normally any fun, you may need help pushing hard enough to get it in place. Might be a touch easier than removing the seat bottom.
71  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Halogen headlights with Rally Sport option on: July 13, 2013, 04:15:59 AM
Yes the solder melted from the terminals. That was a long time ago. No such issue with the new halogen lights. I would like them to last longer, but for driving at night I will take visibility over economy. All my family cars have the silverstone halogen bulbs.

73  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 69 Steering Pump & Steering Box Questions on: July 09, 2013, 06:00:45 AM
If I remember right all 69 power steering used the same variable ratio box. The difference to get fast ratio, came mostly from the steering arms. Good reading on Dave Pozzi's web site. Search here there are a number of links.. would cut and paste a link if my phone had that capability.

Agreed on the longevity, but I like bright. Better than the "airplane" lights I had on an truck. Bought them at a speed shop, had to change them for inspection.  They ran so hot the solder melted at the terminals. Had to replace them after every inspection. VERY expensive in the day,  close to 100 for the pair.
75  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Wiper blade refills on: July 07, 2013, 06:06:27 PM
I think refills arr still available from most manufacturers.  It's the retailers that are choosing not to stock them.
