I believe Jerry answered this recently in another thread.

My 2's worth. If you beleive you have a rarity, and it sounds like you do, Document as well as possible before you do anything.

After that, do what works for you, it's your car.

Post photos when your done, and ENJOY!

Here's hoping the title is clean. I knew someone here in NJ who went through a similar process back in the 70's, only to lose the car. It had been stolen some years earlier, and if I recall correctly the insurance company got the car.

Good luck!

Watch the size of your photos. If you want to post large photos, you will need to host them elsewhere.

Since there is much discussion regarding the missing zinc, I have printed some of the related messages for a friend nearing completion of his  Mopar. He had not heard of this. Is it fair to presume these concerns apply to most muscle cars, or is this a chevy problem due to different oiling methods, etc?

I would consider a video camera. You can record comments as you go. I would also consider using a lookout...

Good luck,

Tom
1058  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: What was the top Camaro? SS or Z/28 on: May 14, 2007, 06:05:27 AM
I would think the COPO's were the top factory 1st gen, followed by the Z.

According to the info packet from Chevy, section iii page 45, "striping color application chart" the standard stripe color for a burgandy (67) regardless of interior color or vinyl top color, standard stripes color would be red.

There is a notation, # White stripe when Special Performance Package is ordered.

I havn't seen one.

1061  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Carlisle on: May 05, 2007, 10:46:07 AM
Who is planning on a run out to Carlisle? Since I have never met any CRG members (to my knowledge), is there a CRG event or presence there? I would love to meet up with others. I am planning a day trip on Saturday. Hope to meet some of you there.

1062  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Mild Modifications / 307 TPI conversion on: April 30, 2007, 01:16:19 PM
I am planning to add TPI to my 307. From what I have read so far it looks like an 86 Camaro 305 or 350 system is the best starting point. This should bolt up to my existing, but not original heads. Has anyone here done this? Can I use the fuel tank pickup and lines from an LM1 or L48 to add the return line that will be needed for the fuel system to make this swap functional? Would you use an in tank, or external fuel pump? I would prefer to get this right the first time. I will also probably swap out the glide for a 2004r with the locking converter.

Does anyone near NJ or planning to hit Carlisle have what I am looking for?

Thanks,

Tom
1063  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 69 parking light gaskets on: April 30, 2007, 11:42:03 AM
Had the same problem from the factory on another car. I wound up using two sets of gaskets. Not right, but functional.

I would think a return line connected to a modern regulator, to allow excess fuel to return. I am looking to efi my little 307, and will need to plumb a return line for that. This may in turn require tank mods. Please keep us posted.

Good luck

Just figured I'd be at the swap anyway, why not grab an old distributor while there. I presume any old small block dist will work. Thanks Jerry for the idea.
