General Discussion / Re: Dealership Memorabilia & Dealership Info

saw a few on stangs back in the day, don't know the source. Yes you could buy a glass teardrop at the local speed shop and add it to any mark you desired.

It does resemble salvage yard markings, but most yards I remember used white or yellow crayon.  And yes I have bought a car from the scrapper, and put it back together with other parts from the same yard.

6-cylinder Camaros / Re: Another '68 Camaro with a 6 bites the dust

For that price I would bid for it, if I was on the left coast.

When I worked in the Poconos weekends in the 80's I heard there was a problem with thieves boarding the trains and stealing stuff like stereos form the cars while the train went through along a gorge following the river. Lots of places to get on and off the slow moving freight train, no streets or crossings for a good 15-20 miles, lots of curves. Anything portable and valuable was a target.

How would I identify the 8.5 10 bolt at say a swap meet? Are they also stamped on the axle (like the 69's) with ratio & posi codes ?

I prefer to upload photos from my PC because once uploaded they should remain. A number of pages have links to photos on services like photobucket. When the service account (for instance photobucket) closes, the photo disappears from this site.

Regrettably, I am no longer to make it down. Wish you all the best. Maybe next time.

Originality / Re: 69 x77 originality
« on: March 18, 2014, 11:01:26 AM »
Even if you are 100% convinced, that won't help the value unless the buyer is also 100% convinced. Photos of the trim tag and vin are a good starting point. Post the pics, and see if others are as convinced as you are.

Good luck!
