Originality / Re: motor mounts

I seem to recall reading that BB mounts positioned the motor farther forward in the bay than the SB, And 6 mounts farther back.

Ed, Are you aware of an aftermarket version? Did you swap the entire seat, or did it replace the manual mechanism?

I believe the 2004r 4 speed overdrive auto also fits the bill as any easy to do, easy to undo swap, and may be even more street friendly.

Sounds like something that shouldn't be to hard to put together at the Nationals in Carlisle this June. Should be plenty of cars, cameras, and experts present.

General Discussion / Re: Window Sticker Font

Regrettably, there is no original paperwork that can not be duplicated reasonably well with today’s technology. Paper can be aged to appear older. Old paper can be cleaned and reused for unintended purposes. There have been numerous check scams where the amount was changed. People have 'cleaned' the paper from one dollar bills to print counterfeit 100's. I am glad the CRG has, and does not share some of this information, but will examine what we have. This protects all of us. I wish I had original documentation, protecto plate, etc. I also wish I had a more valuable 69 than my 307 glide. I don't have a Z, or a COPO, or an RS, or an SS, and I will not change it into one. What I will do is continue to keep it somewhat original, and when I do swap in a newer part, I will hang on to the original in case I ever decide to go back.

Thanks CRG!

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year

General Discussion / Re: Lean Left?

Maybe it has something to with all those years / miles being driven without a passenger causing springs on the left to sag a little more than the springs on the right....

General Discussion / Re: Vinyl or Not?
« on: November 07, 2006, 05:00:51 PM »
With all the rust issues what can I do during restoration to minimize rust if I decide to go vinyl. I do not have the luxury of garage space, and I live next to wetlands less than a foot above sea level (constant humidity even in winter).

Thanks,
Tom

Now that I know my 69 had a vinyl top I'm thinking about replacing it. Can someone point me to a good starting point? I presume I will need all trim, fasteners, material, some type of template or measurements to start drilling etc.

Thanks,

You might want to check this site: http://www.pozziracing.com/brakes.htm#Converting_Drums_to_Discs

Seems very complete, and probably less expensive. Good Luck either way.

Jason,

Click on the Decoding link in the table at the top of this page. Download and run the decoder. It worked well for me.

Good luck,

General Discussion / Re: What size wheels can I go with on a 69 Camaro?
« on: October 10, 2006, 12:57:20 PM »
Steve,

I know this is not much help, but in the past when fitting tires, I have gone under the car and started from the current wheels and tires, then turned the fronts rack to rack, and measured clearances at each stop. Its a pain in the rump, but so far it has worked I have been able to predict the max tire for the existing rim. Changing rims would take additional calculations that I'm probably not ready for right now. Sorry I haven't done tires yet on my Camaro. Check the magazines, I have seen a couple of articles on what size tire can fit a 69 Camaro over the years.

Good luck,

Tom

Restoration / retrofitting fold down rear seat
« on: October 03, 2006, 05:48:37 PM »
I bought a fold down rear seat back recently, I am ordering all the hardware to install it. Can anyone provide photos of the installed hardware so I have a reference when I try to set this up? Also I would appreciate knowing if pictures are of an original fold down, or a later modification.

Thanks!

Mild Modifications / fold down back seat
« on: September 24, 2006, 02:56:04 AM »
Today I picked up a fold down seat back for my 69. It has some (very little) hardware with it. I presume I need the Fisher body manual for pictures. Don't have one yet, does any one have good photos showing the installation for the seat?

Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / trim rings for rally wheels
« on: August 31, 2006, 04:19:53 PM »
My PJ 69 307 glide came to me with a set of 15" rally wheels with center caps but no trim rings. I know these are not original, but I like them. Can anyone tell me what trim rings I need? I checked two of the rims, the other two need rust cleanup. I hoping to find a set of rings at the fall Englishtown swap. Any help appreciated.
The numbers around the valve stems are:

K 1 8   5 valve 1 2 FW
and
K 1 7  8 valve 1 7 FW

Thanks
Tom
