General Discussion / DX1 Stripe
« on: December 25, 2007, 03:47:27 AM »
I am looking for a photo of the DX-1 stripe stencils laid out flat. If anyone can provide I would be thankful.  I am trying to reproduce this stripe on a model.

While I'm here, Merry Christmas to all of you, and thanks for another year of education on this site.

In response to the request for info on research topics posted at: http://www.camaros.org/TopicsofResearch.shtml#1969Topics
Here is what I can provide from my 02D 69 307 glide coupe:

Probably outside of the research window for start of 307 but an 04D

Kick panels appear to be the newer version

No brake pressure proportioning valve

Decoding/Numbers / Cowl decoded
« on: August 18, 2007, 11:43:26 AM »
Based on my cowl tag:

ST69  12347 NOR266605BDY
TR  727                 50  BPNT
    02D                   X11

If I have correctly decoded everything, my x11 307 powerglide coupe should be:
Dover white with Black vinyl top with z21 style trim, including: black sill paint (do I also need bright sill trim?), rear louver moldings. bright drip rails, wheel well moldings, black wheel opening pinstripes, bright taillight trim, bright headlight bezels, Black & Ivory interior,

I also appear to have the z23 interior group with:
stainless trip on pedals, front passenger grab strap, driver side wood grain including steering wheel.

I am looking for needed parts to restore the car, and would like to be sure I am looking for the right parts.

I have also purchased a fold down rear seat, and would appreciate clear photos of how that looks installed including side panels.
I might add the DX! stripes, If I do, doesn't that eliminate the wheel well pin stripes?

Thanks,

Tom

General Discussion / Carlisle
« on: May 05, 2007, 03:46:07 PM »
Who is planning on a run out to Carlisle? Since I have never met any CRG members (to my knowledge), is there a CRG event or presence there? I would love to meet up with others. I am planning a day trip on Saturday. Hope to meet some of you there.

Mild Modifications / 307 TPI conversion
« on: April 30, 2007, 06:16:19 PM »
I am planning to add TPI to my 307. From what I have read so far it looks like an 86 Camaro 305 or 350 system is the best starting point. This should bolt up to my existing, but not original heads. Has anyone here done this? Can I use the fuel tank pickup and lines from an LM1 or L48 to add the return line that will be needed for the fuel system to make this swap functional? Would you use an in tank, or external fuel pump? I would prefer to get this right the first time. I will also probably swap out the glide for a 2004r with the locking converter.

Does anyone near NJ or planning to hit Carlisle have what I am looking for?

Thanks,

Tom

Restoration / retrofitting fold down rear seat
« on: October 03, 2006, 05:48:37 PM »
I bought a fold down rear seat back recently, I am ordering all the hardware to install it. Can anyone provide photos of the installed hardware so I have a reference when I try to set this up? Also I would appreciate knowing if pictures are of an original fold down, or a later modification.

Thanks!

Mild Modifications / fold down back seat
« on: September 24, 2006, 02:56:04 AM »
Today I picked up a fold down seat back for my 69. It has some (very little) hardware with it. I presume I need the Fisher body manual for pictures. Don't have one yet, does any one have good photos showing the installation for the seat?

Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / trim rings for rally wheels
« on: August 31, 2006, 04:19:53 PM »
My PJ 69 307 glide came to me with a set of 15" rally wheels with center caps but no trim rings. I know these are not original, but I like them. Can anyone tell me what trim rings I need? I checked two of the rims, the other two need rust cleanup. I hoping to find a set of rings at the fall Englishtown swap. Any help appreciated.
The numbers around the valve stems are:

K 1 8   5 valve 1 2 FW
and
K 1 7  8 valve 1 7 FW

Thanks

I think Trim Tag photo is attached. Nothing special, just want to verify what I have.

Mild Modifications / fuel inject my 307 ?
« on: March 28, 2006, 02:33:11 PM »
I have a plain 307 pg, with the original 2 bbl setup. I am looking to improve performance without overspending, and with as the original engine. Have any of you converted your small block to modern fuel injection? I am considering a junkyard system, so my questions are: What would be the best system for my 307? Which components do I need from the donor car? What additional components will be needed?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Mild Modifications / Possible Axle swap
« on: January 26, 2006, 04:31:10 PM »
I have been told of an available original 411 posi 12 bolt for my car. What should I be looking for if/when I get to check it out. I'm not thrilled with the thought of 411's at least not with today's gas prices. If I get the rear what ratios can be swapped. Mine is a 69 base 307 PG with I believe the economy geared rear.

Same person also may have a fold down rear seat, besides the seat itself, what else is needed to convert to the fold down?

Thanks,

Tom

Site Comments/Discussion / Usability request
« on: November 01, 2005, 01:31:20 PM »
First welcome back, and congratulations on the new site. Overall very easy to use and navigate.
I have two minor requests:
Would it be possible to add the links to the bottom of the discussion threads like they are now at the top? If not, maybe a link button back to the topic level by the other link buttons that appear at the top and bottom of each thread. This would simplify going back to read the next topic.
Also could the size of the "news" banner be fixed? Currently when the news item cycles, the section resizes, and the links have a tendency to move up or down on the screen with each change.

Thanks again for a great site, and knowledge that cant be found in books.

Restoration / new quater panels
« on: October 30, 2005, 01:48:09 PM »
I am plannibg to replace my rear quaters myself. I have been told to make sure the doors are properly aligned before I start. I expect I should also look into any trunk sections at the same time. What else is recommended before I begin? I have not attempted anything like this in the past. Is there a good reference on how to do this? I bought a mig welder to do this, but have no experience, I plan to preactice on some scrap panels before I start on my car. What kind of cutter should I use on the old steel? Can I do it with a cutter wheel on a dremel, of drill? I do not yet have a compressor so air chisels are not an option.

Thanks in advance,
Tom
