Also the lower inner section of the tail panel where the frame rails meet the tail panel is galvanized...at least is is on my 67 convertible.

Yes mine is also. I forgot about that.

Yes the more I look at it the more it looks to be galvanized. If that's the case I would assume it was done prior to stamping? There are not a lot of galvanized parts on Camaro's.
The only thing that comes to mind are the taillight inner brackets, rocker panel wiring covers and gas tanks.

Once again here is a nos plate assembly purchased from a SYC member. Looks to be an early PN# 3891682
I am unsure what this finish is called it is a light grey almost bare steel looking.

While these are nos parts from my collection and may differ from born with, I will let the viewer come to any conclusions that these may or may not offer.

The catch (pn # 3891606) looks like zinc phosphate and the adjuster shaft (pn#3857883) looks like same finish.
The catch is 67 standard by the way.

I believe the adjuster shaft is same for 67-69 but could be mistaken.

Restoration / Re: Torx door strikers

Anatomy of door striker.
First of all the first washer just slides off but the second...not so easily (it took lots of muscle and vise-grips.)
Secondly, the second washer butts up to a stop that is an integral part of the bolt.
Next, is the sleeve, (although it never turned any using the vise-grips there to unscrew the second washer.)
In the grooves on each end of the sleeve is an almost rubber like seals or something.

I can only wonder how on earth this striker bolt was made in the first place.

The nos striker bolt 210151274 is a much simpler piece but it definitely looks different and the 20151275 striker has a larger washer stop than original.

Does this tag look real? Thanks.

The height is the same as the double washer.  I suppose it would function ok even without the sleeve. The sleeve on the original doesn't roll now and I don't know if it ever did.

After some research, I believe this is correct for 68-82 Corvettes judging by the used ones I see on Ebay and they will fit a Camaro too.

here is a pic of my original with an odd looking NOS #20151274 that has no striker sleeve.
It is Torx. The used one is an original from my 67.

I picked these up years back and didn't realize they were in fact different.

I thought it looked like an allen head. I must have buggered it up taking it off that it almost looked like it could have been a Torx. Mike I see a  W 1 2 on my second washer.

I remember it being a bear to get off. I should have soaked it in penetrating oil and maybe used an impact on it.

Yes it is . My originals for a 67 have 2 washer/spacers and the service replacement would work without the second washer/spacer or as is.
I should mention that mine is also a convertible and I assume all Camaro's had 2 washer/spacers originally along with the plastic insulator.

Service replacement part. I believe this is slightly different than originals but I could be wrong.

I noticed the same sealer piece there and also in the quarter panel lips which in my opinion contributed to those area holding moisture and causing rust.

Here is a pic of a nos 67 adjuster I posted at SYC forum a while back. I don't know if this is assembly line or not.
Long story short, I purchased some repo adjusters for my 86 chevy truck and had a problem with the nuts breaking. Realized I had bought some NOS nuts for m 67 Camaro years ago.
Here is a pic w/ black vinyl nut.
