Originality / Vinyl top for 69 -- what is correct?
« on: August 22, 2020, 02:55:08 PM »
Gents--I searched and did not find the answer so I am asking it here.  Apologies if I am the only one who does not know--I am a 68 guy, not 69.

What is the situation with some 69's having a space between the top and the drip rail and some not?

is it dependent on when it was built or were some dealer installed and that is how they did it?

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: 1968 AM/FM Multiplex? What do I have?

The bracket with Camaro name on it was used with a/c. One with out a/c used a different bracket. It show a good picture of  in the 68 assembly manual. Pretty cool item had a buddy that I worked give me a Nos one years ago.

So, the bracket is OEM? I have never seen one and thought it was an owner made bracket. But when I look at the rear, it appears to be factory..

Thanks gents--I had never seen anything like this...and I thought I had seen every option...it came from a 68 RS and was original to that car.

I just wanted an AM/FM, I assume the radio is nothing special that is connected to the multiplex?  I can use it without the multiplex?

Garage Talk / Vinyl Top Install Cost?
« on: August 13, 2020, 07:01:42 PM »
10 years ago I could get a vinyl top installed for $250; now I am being told $1K.

Does anyone have any recent experience having one installed?

The car currently does not have a vinyl top so the molding pins would have to be installed too

Thanks!!

I just bought a 1968 AM/FM radio with a "controller" that has volume, tone, balance, and front/rear knobs.

I know the U79 multiplex was normally installed in the center console door. And I understand that if a car did NOT have a console, there may have been a controller that mounts under the dash.

That said, I am unsure of what I have and whether it is complete (ie are there more parts needed to use actually use it).

I have read through all related posts and am still unsure what I exactly have.

I only wanted and AM/FM but got this controller too...

Thanks,
Brent

What were YH code wheel used on once 69 Z-28's were out of production?

YH Code go into 1970.  I do not see YH code as correct for any other GM car.

Would these then be over-the-counter replacements for the 1969 Z-28 wheels?
