on a 67, a rs emblem was placed in the center of the grill, lower case rs letters at the front corner of each fender and a rs gas cap. the area of the fender between the door and the front wheel had a Camaro emblem, below  that was the engine displacement and the V flags. hope this helps

General Discussion / Re: 1969 camaro sunroof?
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:26:17 PM »
A family member bought a 68 Z28 (early 80's)that had been stolen in its past life, motor and trans where taken had a 327 with at turbo charger, turbo 400 trans replacements. It spent sometime as a show car and had the same style sunroof installed. The sunroof retracted into the headliner via a handcrank, when closed was flush the exterior roof. Very proffesional job, at distance looking across the roof it was diffucult to see the sunroof. I don't know who installed it, car was black lacquer at the time and straight no butcher job. I believe the car is back with the original owner with a 427/4sp we installed after removing the mouse motor.

PS:  the 327/turbo and 400 trans was sold to a airman at Andrew Air force Base. Full body 79 Camaro was unbeatable on the street, stock 10.25 cast pistons steel crank 5200 stall converter 4:88s and alcohol ,but when it exploded nothing and I mean nothing was salvageable.

the description says he installed a new firewall, not the upper cowl. Do repo firewalls have the piercings for the muncie?

Originality / Re: 1969 SS hood
« on: March 14, 2008, 06:49:07 AM »
I ordered a new set of GM SS hood spring to install when the car was reassembled,( it was a basket case when I purchased it, don't know how the originals were) once reassembled the hood would fall about 2" from the fully open position and hold there. It wouldn't stay in the fully open position, haven't attempted to resolve the issue I pushed it(the car) in the corner and kick it occasionally in passing. JW I'd be interested in your experience after the new springs are installed.

Restoration / Re: Rear bumper bracket rivets
« on: April 05, 2007, 05:25:03 PM »
Rick's sells them (pg. 132 BU-72). I need a set, but am not quite sure if I can get the bumper and rivets in the press, so I've been holding off buying them. I still remember the difficulties with the rivets for the upper ball joints.

Mild Modifications / Re: Has anyone tried this?
« on: March 02, 2007, 07:27:58 AM »
I installed a complete Accell self contained HEI unit (had a GM HEI in it ) in my 67 Camaro with a 355/4sp with no firewall issues.

In response to who'd want one. It's a neat, complete self contained unit, put it in, add 12volts and a wire for the tach and your done. They work great for mild to moderate engine and are reliable.

Restoration / brake pedal and booster install ??
« on: January 30, 2007, 09:22:54 AM »
I'm ready to install the brake booster and pedal assembly. my question, does the firewall/insulation pad get sandwiched between the brake pedal assembly and the firewall or does the pedal assembly mount directly against the firewall? thanks

Decoding/Numbers / Re: How do I title a Camaro without one?
« on: January 24, 2007, 04:37:24 PM »
At one time their were a number of places in  hemmings that advertised they could provide a title for any vehicle between specific year I think nothing newer than early 70's. My understanding is there are several states that don't issue titles, Georgia being one. A little detective work may resolve the theft issue and a bill of sale from Bill Suckaluski in Georgia and problem solved.

Originality / Re: 68 woodgrain ash tray+dlx hubcaps
« on: January 20, 2007, 09:13:31 AM »
I have 3 woodgrain ash trays I bought on e-bay. I believe the most expensive was $65.00. The fact that 1 sold for $180.00 is not reflective of all. Prices on e-bay ebb and flow. Other than Hemmings I don't know of another place that allows you access to world when searching for parts. Of course you could take a year and travel the swap meet circuit.
