Maintenance / Re: Clutch shudder - tuning wuestions

Assuming you have points, have you checked the gap. I use a dwell meter to set them right on 30 degrees. I've had a hesitation on another car that I couldn't find, turned out the points were out of adjustment, not significantly but enough to cause the hesitation.

I did that on my 69 Chevelle 30 plus years ago, just parts you can buy at local parts or hardware store. You have the gauge for a pressure reading and idiot like in case your not paying attention. I'm considering doing it on the Camaro, if I add a aftermarket gauge, it only had idiot lights originally.

We used to say if you saw the light it was already blown up, but one can hope. Paul

Thanks for the pictures, that's what I needed. Now I'm going digging through the coffee cans of parts that came with the car for those retaining clips. Thanks Paul

Originality / 1968 Rear Antenna wire routing?
« on: August 13, 2019, 12:13:45 AM »
Anybody know the routing of the rear antenna wire. I know it runs down the right side of the car? I didn't take the car apart, so I'm at a loss on the original route. Does it go over the outer wheel well at the rear seat divider or under the seat? Thanks Paul

General Discussion / Re: Al Knoch Bright Blue Dash Pad 68 Camaro

My understanding is they take everything down to the metal frame add new foam and mold the new covering. I sent them a couple sample from the original pad, they are going to look for a match. I don't know what that means. I got the impression they would look at other manufactures colors for a match. Paul

I have one of the bridge jacks, very handy. I often wish I had a second one for tire rotation and such, but there are times when they get in the way. I don't know how much they weigh, fortunately they're designed to slide because your not picking them and moving it around.  I used a engine hoist to set mine between the rails.

Anybody have a 1968 dash pad recovered in blue. My interior is medium blue and I'm thinking bright blue isn't going to work. That's the only blue they offer for 68(looks the same as 67 bright blue). If you had one redone was it the correct color. I'm thinking I'm going to have to dye it!

Thanks Paul

Originality / Re: Quarter panel vent screws?
« on: July 20, 2019, 10:24:14 PM »
I think I'm going with the chrome. Jon that screw in the last pic. looks like they used whatever they had handy. The vent surface is flat, one would think the screw surface should be flat also. There's no accounting for what happened on the assembly line. Thanks Paul

If the owner of the car isn't interested in the matching numbers motor, who's it worth $4500 to?

Originality / Hinge Pillar Plug for Antenna Hole
« on: July 19, 2019, 08:30:00 PM »
My original plug has deteriorated to the point you can't read the part number, it's has almost cracked in half. Haven't found any mention of one at the Camaro parts vendors. Can somebody point me in right direction? Thanks

Originality / Quarter panel vent screws?
« on: July 19, 2019, 08:22:37 PM »
I have AMK interior kit and it came with 2 screws for the Qrt. vents. They are chrome with sealer on them. The repo vents from D&R came with 2 black phosphate screws with a broad head resembling a washer. Which screw is correct? Thanks Paul

You can check the right door hinge pillar for a solid plug, about 1/2" diameter. The wire for rear antenna cars ran down the right side of the interior in side a black plastic tube under the carpet, hence the plug in the pillar. The front antenna wire would go through the pillar with a grommet in the hole.

Originality / Ground Strap placement
« on: July 11, 2019, 01:15:40 AM »
Looking at the 1968 assembly manual pages 408-409 show placement of straps. Page 408 shows V8's valve covers to body. Page 409 shows frame to body, but that's for a 6 cylinder doesn't mention a V8. Did a V8 get the same ground strap? Thanks
