« on: June 14, 2006, 06:51:09 PM »
Does anybody know where I can go to find the original part #'s for wheel cylinders on a 68 Camaro with drum brakes all around? The assembly manual doesn't list them that I could find. thanks

Restoration / starter soleniod cover color
« on: June 12, 2006, 05:35:35 AM »
I have three plastic caps for the starter soleniod and I'm trying to determine which is correct. One is brown, looks like the one's the rebuilders use, which I'm sure is wrong, the other is a very dark brown/black with some flecks of light brown and very thick, heavy plastic. The last is just black, it resembles the brown ones the rebuilders use but it's black. Any insight would be appreciated. thanks

Originality / VIN plate color
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:58:26 AM »
I'm moving toward the point in the restoration of my 68 Camaro where its time to paint the interior. At some point in the past the interior was paint a variation of Lemans Blue and so was the VIN plate. My question is was the VIN plate painted interior color(light blue) or were they all black and installed after the interior was painted? Additionally were the trim tags painted black after they were installed on the firewall? I've seen some that were silver in color what's the correct color?

Originality / 68 turbo 400 driveshaft
« on: March 03, 2006, 08:40:49 AM »
I'm trying to find the correct driveshaft for my 68 turbo 400 Camaro. This is a #'s matching restro.project(as close as possible anyway). Is there a definitive way to differentiate a turbo 400 driveshaft from a turbo 350/glide/4spd driveshaft? I know there has been some discussion about the yokes on the 400's being welded inline and all others being offset about 20 degrees.A individual was trying to tell me a 400 shaft was heavier, beefer, had different u-joints and was shorter than the other shafts.I'd appreciate any feedback on this subject.

I know the 400 and the M-22 trans yokes interchange and the turbo 350/glides and other manual yokes  interchange. The area of concern is the main body of the shaft and u-joint ends. Thanks

Originality / 67/8/9 lower control arms
« on: December 19, 2005, 05:22:10 AM »
does anybody know if there is a distinguishable difference between 67/8/9 lower control arms? the metal on mine is peened up where somebody got carried away removing the ball joints.i know the subframes have minor variations for each year, but don't know about the control arms.i'm having everything powdercoated and these imperfections will show-up.it probably sounds trivial but i'm particular and judges notice these things. thank

Restoration / New G.M. parts right or wrong?
« on: November 07, 2005, 07:50:39 PM »
I'm attempting a complete restoration (as close as possible)of a 68 camaro. My question is some parts are still avaliable through G.M..these parts are not N.O.S
I believe they're referred to as service replacement. If installed and taken to a judged event are the parts right or wrong? I saw a resource for identifying starters, but I can't remember what it was anybody have a idea? thanks
