Restoration / Re: Headliner recommendations
« on: November 19, 2023, 11:09:58 PM »
I'd like to reuse mine, but the stitching is coming out around the edges. The upholsterer can't repair them, apparently a special machine is needed. I ordered a sample from SMS, unfortunately they don't sell Visors. Thanks for the recommendation.

Jim,
Do you intend to reuse your original Visors?

Restoration / Headliner recommendations

I'm getting around to having a headliner installed in my 68 with deluxe interior. There is quite a range of prices, so I'm looking for recommendations. I'd like to be as close to original as possible. Thanks

General Discussion / Re: How did you all get more power out your 327
« on: June 13, 2023, 10:00:13 PM »
Set of Double Hump heads will make all the difference 327/300 had 1.94" intake 1.60"exhaust valves... 327/365 had 2.02" intake 1.60 exhaust valves... 327/210 had 1.72 intake 1.50 exhaust valves.

Was the replacement  Distributor points and condenser unit? If so you could use a ballast resistor run 12 volts direct to bypass the factory wiring for testing purposes. If that corrects your issue as it did with the MSD you know the issue is the car wiring.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Big Block Fan Shroud

I purchased a Heartbeat City repo and although it resembled my original it was not without its problems. I was not satisfied with the overall fit. I used my original as a template to make minor modifications to closer resemble the fit and finish of the original shroud.

Was the motor broken in with the current Carb? Didn't notice it smoking during break in? What size motor, specs.? It's pulling some great vacuum numbers. I'd check the simple things first... float levels, choke fully open, timing. At 20" of vacuum power valve should 10., but that won't make it smoke unless you get bigger than 10 or it's blown.

Originality / Exhaust Clamp Id

These clamps came in a box of parts with my basket case. I was told the were original 1968 Z28 early take offs. Is there away to identify them? Also the bracket?

I hear Montana is beautiful, remote and parts are devoid of people. To some that's a positive, with me the jury is still out. ;D

Restoration / Re: Rear window trim clips
« on: August 18, 2022, 10:20:25 PM »
I ordered 20 of the plastic clips today, they peaked my curiosity. The skeptic would say if they worked well, why did GM not continue using them on other applications and eliminate the metal clip, heat Distortion in summer, plastic deterioration, couldn't take the stress of those Hi Performance 69 Z28's  ;D

Sauron, I looked at the web-site for Aveco apparently the now own W&E. They only sell to Distributors. I maybe in touch after I receive the plastic clips.

Thanks for the responses Paul

Restoration / Rear window trim clips
« on: August 17, 2022, 12:35:06 AM »
I'm using the clip on the left for the rear window trim, but it slides on and off the stud with no resistance. I bent the small center portion so it catches the stud and stays attached. Anybody had this problem? Short comings of repo clips?

Originality / Re: Headliner Trim for 68 Camaro

Wow that was quick Darrell... Do you know if that holds true for 67 and 69 as well? Trying to determine the application of the other piece. It resembles what is being sold as reproduction. it was included with some other interior trim pieces I purchased. Thanks appreciate the reply.

Originality / Headliner Trim for 68 Camaro
« on: August 03, 2022, 05:25:58 PM »
I'm trying to confirm the type of trim used across the top of windshield where it meets the headliner. I have 2 types one is a hard, but flexible plastic, and one is a flexible vinyl like the windlace trim used along the door edges. Both pieces have the notch for the Rear view mirror cut-out. The upholsterer believes the flexible plastic to be original. Looking for conformation.
 Thanks

Darrell,

Does the subframe bolt with washer that has the notch cut out go in a specific location, serve a purpose? I had one in my bucket of bolts thought it was a manufacturers fluke.

Is the tank venting properly? If not, could be creating a vacuum situation with the fuel system after a few hard pulls. As a side note you have a solid lifter BB pulling 17" of vacuum at idle? Factory were at PV's were 6.5 on solid lifter BB's. Idle vacuum divided by 2 is the formula for PV.
