General Discussion / Re: Dual Exhausted?
« on: March 30, 2009, 09:40:53 PM »

Without that reinforcement plate, a 69 Camaro could definitely NOT be an RS, SS, or Z28.

For 69's you're correct about the SS & Z28 but the reinforcement plate had nothing to do with an RS.

What is/are the correct head casting #'s for an 04C L34 or L35 car?  3931063? Are ther others that are known to exist? 290's maybe?

Dave -

Colvin's "Chevrolet by the Numbers" states both casting numbers (3931063 and 3964290) were used on 69 Camaros with the L34 or L35 engines.  No other casting numbers are listed for this application.

Paul

Thanks Paul...I've read that but I also realize there are a lot of errors in Colvin's data so I just wanted some "real world" confirmation from people "in the know" and this is by far the best place for the real info.

Originality / 69 Low fuel light application
« on: July 05, 2008, 01:36:22 PM »
Hello folks ~another originality question~

I read somewhere recently that ALL 69 cars with the console gauge option (U17 ?) got the low fuel light in the dash with the reason being that it was too hard to scan the fuel gauge in it's location. Is it true that ALL 69's with console gauges got the low fuel light? I know the lens is there but I'm specifically asking about the module and wiring.

Thanks for sharing the knowledge!

It was a raised roll-stamp.

Thanks William...and it was just black, right? No white paint on the #'s to make them stand out? Any other date codes or info on them?

Originality / 270 coil

Hi guys,

On the original 270 ignition coils for cars with the ZL2 hood is the "270" supposed to be embossed, raised or painted.....or a combination? Are there any other date codes or markings on them? The car I'm looking to confirm if the coil is original or not is my 04C small block Z-11.

Thanks!!

Restoration / Re: New subframe bushings and fender alignment problem
« on: June 14, 2008, 12:22:57 AM »
Do you still have the old bushings? If so at least take a look at them and compare them to the new ones. I've installed several sets that D&R sells and I've never had any trouble except that if the old ones were really bad you'll definitely have gap issues since the whole front end rides on the subframe via the radiator support and if you change it's location even a little you'll have to adjust and shim the front end sheetmetal.

With all this talk about 68 bumper jacks I figured someone may be looking for one so here's one I stumbled across on my local Craigslist for $50.

Is it just me or does the casting date (C-11-69) seem early for that VIN?
