This Camaro must be one of the earliest "4P" cars. November second week. Kurt what is the earliest one you have in the data bank? I looked at a numbers matching 1967 Camaro that had the 4 speed and 275 hp engine but it did not have the 4P on the trim tag. I think it was a Sept build car. It was a few years ago.

Decoding/Numbers / 1968 Z28

Picked up another 1968 Camaro this spring and though I should post the numbers for this site.
Vin is 124378l322365
Trim tag is,
12E                   U313
68-12437 LOS 21602
712             Y-Y
It has a BU 1213G 3.73 posi rear with leaf springs.
I have sent Kurt and Jerry M. lots of pictures of this Camaro and they have confirmed it to be one of the 7199 Z28's built is 1968. It still has evidence of the factory stripe on the rear and on the front panel. No motor or transmission. The 4 piston disc brakes are still there and the Muncie hole. Last time it was on the road was 1977. Still has original shocks on the rear and the correct exhaust is still there. There are a lot of pictures on Camaro Tech and a good discussion on this Camaro under "1968 Camaro". If I knew how to attach a link I would. I know most off us are on both sites but I though I should get these numbers to this site also. Thanks for all the help you guys do for us under educated car nuts.

Just for your information my 1969 LM1 numbers matching has the vin location ground down before they stamped the numbers. Very easy to read and the engine had never been out of the car until I took it out to rebuild it.

It is an LA Camaro. A numbers matching 1969 LM1 RS, 350 with 350 tranny, 12 bolt. I bought it from the original owner who got it when she got out of High school.

Just wondering what the earliest date for the vin to be down by the oil filter. My 11B Camaro has it at that location. the ground down a spot to stamp it. very clear stamp and I know it is the original engine.

Ok heres mine. 1967 RS 327 L30/M20 LOS 03D with the valve, 1968 SS/BB  NOR 10B with valve, 1968 coupe 327 210hp LOS 03A no valve, 1969 LM1/350 auto LOS 11D with valve. Only one of them is an SS Camaro. Hope this helps. Corrected with build date and plant. Why does the 1967 RS have the valve as it does not fit the 1967 data? Any ideas Kurt?
