General Discussion / Re: 68 Z fan clutch
« on: September 19, 2009, 04:01:36 AM »
So is it now acceptable to use the Eaton coil style clutch as "correct". I know John Z said that both were used and I'v seen an original 67 L78 with the Eaton??? I have the Eaton on a 68 L78 with the correct 4 rivet fan.

I have an X77 05C (May 3rd week) with factory spoiler, no D80 on TT, without console/gauges or dash tachometer. Would this mean it was dealer ordered before April 69?

Thanks so much to all of you for the information. It's all about sharing and learning here and I learned something this week :) That makes for a good week in my book! Now to figure out how to reproduce the rubber flap and clip..... hmmm.

Restoration / 68 fender support shield?
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:14:42 PM »
I took this off a 68 when doing a restoration a few years back. It was attached to the driver side fender support brace at the lower mounting holes. It had the remains of a rubber skirt but now only has the staple. Does anyone know the application for this piece and if its even original to camaro? I can't find it in the AIM. I'd also be interested to know what the rubber skirt looked like?

I see what you've done and it makes sense. I've still not found a T fitting for the vacum at carb and it makes me a little nervous to split that port when its feeding the advance. I'd still like to see a photo of an original setup. Thanks for sharing  :)

While I'm on the topic of my car I was wondering if anyone would have a clue to what label/sticker might have been applied to the interior of the glove box door opposite the tire pressure label? I just noticed it the other day and was curious since the residue looks similar to that of the pressure label only this was rectangle. Maybe a Scooby Doo sticker?

Originality / No radio.... need ground straps?
« on: February 25, 2009, 03:36:43 AM »
A radio was not ordered with my 68 L78 so would the engine compartment still have radio ground straps? What about noise filters? I expect an "adda boy" for correctly wording my question :)

I've attached a couple shots of the radio plate and cardboard speaker hole cover for those who are interested. The sliver of black cloth tape shown with the radio plate is what was used to hold the cardboard speaker cover in place. Although it gave up holding years ago!

The rear seam has an angel to it.

Sorry it took so long but here you go. A pillar overlaps the top section.

Short spoiler is on my 16K mile 68 that has a documented spoiler package via window sticker.

I was going through some photos I shot of my X77 and was wondering what this bracket might have been used for? Its on both rear frame rails.

I'll snap a couple photos of my 68 L78's vinyl top seams for you. The top material most often found these days is to thick to make the folded seams as original. I will also include a photo of the seamed section under the rear window. I see that done incorrectly many times as well. I believe material w/o the felt backing can still be found and I have a sample of that somewhere and will look to see if it has a manufacturer stamp on it.
