Lloyd, were you able to remove the trunk sound deadener in one piece? Would love to see a picture of it.
Thanks, Doc.

Doc, it did come out in one piece. If you refer to the photo in Reply #27 that's pretty much how it looks. There is an area missing around the jack hook bracket. I will take a photo of it out of the car if you're interested?

Hi Hans, comparing the transmission tunnel sound deadener material I removed from my car during disassembly its appears to be the same construct as the under-seat material. Yes, its mastic with a kraft paper overlay. This same material was used in the trunk.  I haven't received my drop shipped order of roll material yet however I plan to re-make all the deadener panels (including the inside trunk panel) using my takeoffs as templates.

I've been in the hand lettering, pinstriping, airbrushing, graphics and auto restoration business for decades. All you need to do is provide an image to a qualified graphics shop. Piece of cake. Fonts help, but not needed to replicate what one desires. Be aware or user rights.

This is new frontier for me however I'm working with a quality print / graphics shop and Bob (Camarocards) has been an excellent resource. I'm looking forward to having a solid proof later this week.

Here are photos of another control arm I restored for my project which I plan to use. Unlike the example I posted earlier this one is painted 30% gloss black, has the bubble top ball joint (PN 9740081) and inboard exposed (dog bone) bushing. I'm not convinced the non-exposed bushings are any more or less correct for the period however this one has the exposed version. I plan to remove the paint from the bottom of the rivets as they were installed after the control arm was (dip) painted and should be natural.

The body mounts are 2 1/2” in diameter and you want about 1” over on either side so call it 5” per side x 2 sides so 10 inches of tape does it.

Lloyd,

I've looked through hundreds of font files and have come up empty handed. So the next best thing to do was to simply recreated (see image). If you're interested in the native file or desire it in just about any format just PM me.

Good Luck!

Bob

Nice work Bob and thanks! PM sent.

Chick I couldn't help but notice the bushing in your photo appears to have the integrated washer which would be the 3928380 instead of the 3901361 bushing or is that camera flash?

The correctly finished A'arms above have the incorrect bushings.
They should have a 3/16 exposed rubber lip on the inside.

James, I have seen them with and without the bushing exposed inboard, what source are you referencing that states there is only one correct version?

Chick, I previously checked Quanta's site as I have had dealings with them before and could only find the same width 1 1/2" tape other vendors sell? From their product listing:

Body Mount Shim Tape - 1-1/2" wide Black
Applications: 1965 Corvette: Corvettes and other cars had their body mounting shims or mounts held in place with special tape while the body was dropped onto the frame. This tape is thicker than standard masking tape
Quantity: 1 roll, black
Packaging: Boxed
Part Number: 03-10

Is there another tape width they sell?

Wouldn't think masking/paper tape would prevent water ingress?
Wouldn't think masking/paper tape would prevent water ingress?

True but then it only needed to "live" for 3 minutes.

  AMK sells 2" (7 mils thick x 2" x 180') black masking tape under p/n B-11665 for $12. That's what I used on my resto.

Mike

Thanks Mike, 2" black crepe paper tape seems to be the way to go, the widest width I've found is also 2"(in ~7mil thickness). Also available on Amazon for a slightly lower price.

Photos of the subframe cushions from the 10 10 69 RS/Z weren't helpful.

I measured an NOS cushion at about 2 1/2 inches (non compressed) vs the parts vendor body mount tape which measures just 1 1/2" and it just doesn't seem wide enough. Below is a photo of my subframe with the parts vendor tape.

Vendor tape installed on my subframe (pardon the dust)
