The 1969 RS parking lamp lens with the stainless trim ring was discontinued some time in the early 1969 production year. From what I have read this change may have occurred in December, 1968. The service replacement example in the photo is missing the argent paint trim around the inside vertical perimeter of the lens which was found on assembly line originals. As with other early production parts despite specification changes some continued in assembly line use until parts inventories were exhausted. A good example of this was the "shorty" trunk spoiler which despite being discontinued in December/January was installed on some February (and later?) cars. I am trying to determine the latest date these bright trim RS parking lamps were used in assembly line production at Norwood or Van Nuys?

Restoration / 1969 Dash Carrier Restoration Source
« on: June 30, 2015, 05:55:35 PM »
I'm looking for a shop that can do a high level restoration of my 1969 dash carrier (not the gauges or dash pad), or a source to purchase a restored original unit. I know HBC sells them however with a substantial retail mark-up. I'm not considering DIY.

-> Does anyone have direct personal experience with a good restoration shop who has done a dash carrier restoration? What was your experience, pricing etc?

-> Opinions on restoration dash carriers currently available?
                          ->Which suppliers?
->How do they compare with factory original?

-> Has anyone used the following companies for dash carrier or gauge restoration? If so what was your experience?

Originality / 1969 Rally Sport Door Hinge Finish
« on: June 14, 2015, 01:14:01 AM »
Trying to determine how the large RS headlight door hinge (GM PN 3945711) was finished at the Norwood factory, NOS hinges are natural aluminum or maybe pot metal and originals I've seen have are often black due to aging or perhaps due to a primer finish applied at the plant?

Originality / 1969 Camaro Z/28 Open Element Air Cleaner Base
« on: May 26, 2015, 06:19:50 PM »
I've read through various threads on the subject of open element air cleaners however haven't been able to conclude if this air cleaner base is correct for a 1969 Z/28.  Would appreciate feedback, thanks.

Originality / 1969 RS Headlight Bucket Shim
« on: April 24, 2015, 05:14:47 PM »
I'm trying to locate information on assembly line correct shim(s) used on 1969 Rally Sport headlight buckets. There is a related CRG topic dealing with a 1968 RS however the thread does not specify if 1969 RS shims are the same or if there is more than one size.  Are they zinc or manganese phosphated?

Originality / Reverse Lockout Bellcrank to Frame Bolts
« on: April 16, 2015, 04:46:29 PM »
I recently purchased a 1969 RS/Z project car that at some point had headers installed. The reverse lockout rod was disconnected and the bellcrank unbolted from the frame likely to deal with a common pipe interference issue. All the original exhaust hangers remain and almost unbelievably the reverse lockout bellcrank was left dangling...for how long I don't know.  I want to reconnect the bellcrank to the frame and need to know which bolts are correct. Please post a photo if you have original bolts.

Originality / TRICO Wiper Blade Design Changeover in 1969
« on: March 06, 2015, 12:08:01 AM »
From my review, 1968 Camaros used a peaked style TRICO brushed stainless wiper blade stamped MADE IN USA (Photos 1 & 2). As best I can determine this peaked design carried through into the 1969 production year however at some point Chevrolet switched to a bevelled design (Photos 3 & 4). Does anyone have information on when the bevelled design came into assembly line use?

Originality / 1969 Front Spoiler to Lower Valance Bolts
« on: June 01, 2014, 11:59:16 PM »
The 1969 AIM specifies the spoiler-to-lower valance bolts as #9417075 #10-24 x 3/4" with a captured washer and #10-24 nut with captured washer #3759924. Do these bolts look like originals?

Originality / Fill & Drain Plugs 1969 Muncie M22
« on: December 17, 2013, 06:58:28 PM »
I discovered (with help from Jerry M) that the drain and fill plugs in my 3/69 build date Muncie M22 transmission were likely from either a late 1969 or post 1969 production M22. The plugs are made by Lisle and I have seen them stamped with a P, W (with underline), the Lisle script only, with the Lisle Magnetic 2 script and Lisle Magnetic 3 script.  The Lisle Magnetic 2 design is correct for my transmission build date and most early/mid 1969 and prior M22 production transmissions. The Lisle Magnetic 2 plugs also have a unique dual spade magnet design (see "bottom view" photo).

Originality / 1969 Z/28 Power Brake Hose Bracket - Original?
« on: September 17, 2013, 06:44:39 PM »
I have been trying to locate a power brake vacuum hose bracket for my 69 Z and as they are difficult to source they are fairly expensive. I have recently located one however before I make the purchase decision I'd like to confirm its a factory original.  I have a single photo of one I believe to to be original (see photo: "Original Example") that I am using as a reference however I cannot confirm its authenticity.  I've also posted 2 photos of the bracket that I have been offered to purchase (see photos: "Offered to Purchase"). I did note there is a small crack in the corner crease of the bracket. As there are subtle differences between the brackets and as I only have one data point as a reference I would appreciate input from members who have an original bracket. Photos would of course be helpful.

Originality / 1969 Camaro SB Exhaust Manifold Bolts
« on: September 09, 2013, 05:49:05 PM »
When I purchased my '69 Z it had a few Day 2 parts installed including headers.  I located a set of date coded, original exhaust manifolds (and smog system) to replace the headers however I used new, commonly available replacement bolts. I have not been able to locate a photo showing close-up head details of assembly line correct SB exhaust manifold bolts and recently came across the photos below.  The head detail on these early bolts is similar to the reproductions however they do differ somewhat. Note a single ring and N stamping which I assume identifies the manufacturer (National?).

 - Has anyone come across these early bolts, are they assembly line correct or incorrect service replacements?

 - Does anyone have close up photos of original, assembly line installed exhaust manifold bolts?

Originality / 1969 Oil Pressure Gauge Block Sender Fitting
« on: July 15, 2013, 06:42:21 PM »
I'm trying to determine the correct oil sender fitting (block side) for a 1969 Camaro with console gauges.  How does this one look and is it missing any pieces or does it appear complete?

Originality / NOS Idler Arm vs Factory Original
« on: June 26, 2013, 07:07:13 PM »
I just purchased an NOS idler arm for my '69 Z. I have read there are some differences between the factory originals and NOS service replacements however the part I received was "missing" the cotter pin hole which struck me as a manufacturing defect. I was later told that NOS idler arms used an oval locking nut rather than the common castellated nut and cotter pin combination. Can anyone validate this observation?

Originality / 1969 Fuel Line Frame Rail Bracket Bolt
« on: June 15, 2013, 04:03:50 PM »
The fuel line on my '69 Z/28 was cut at some point likely to install an electric fuel pump. A very generous CRG member provided me a survivor fuel line from a 2C Van Nuys car with 52K miles that I plan to use as a replacement. I have an orginal fuel line clip that bolts to the frame rail beside the fuel tank (see photo) however I'm trying to confirm the correct attaching bolt details. I likely have one however I need to ensure its the correct one. If anyone has one handy I'd appreciate if you would post a photo and details regarding the size, head markings and washer configuration, thanks.
