Originality / Re: 69 Kick Panels

Steve, yes, the 2-peice vs 1 piece is what caused the tab relocation.  The 2-peice have a square tab higher on the arm than the 1 piece.  Since the repro was modeled after the 1 peice, that is the issue.

Dan, take a look at this site and read the tech docs as well as the forums  http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/  Lots of info on polishing.  I did my stainless trim, easy, but time consuming.  It came out nice!

??  The header moldings dont use weatherstrip, just a litte dum-dum putty to seal the edge.  Believe me, once you get one installed, they are not coming off! The screws are just an after thought :)

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Coorect engine block for 1969 SS350
« on: October 17, 2009, 02:10:52 PM »
Kevin: What is the casting date on your block?

Well Steve, you are going to be pissed, but the block is a 3956618, casting date of L 18 8 (Dec 18 1968), deck stamp V0113HA VIN from a 69 Camaro by oil filter, BUT deck stamp has been altered 1 changed to a 4, so the stamp now reads V0413HA.   It would have been perfect for your car. :(

can't read the VIN in the spot that it is (will take a couple of hours to dig out more, which I am not going to do), but I know it is 69 Norwood Camaro, Standard bore, greasy, pulled from a basement in the 80s in north NJ and sitting in my shed(s) ever since (except for the drunken part) :( I have been rueing that day since (a looong time ago). :(

Its too bad, I have a jan 1969 HA block in the shed, but the deck stamp was altered in a drunken episode and now it is junk for a numbers car :(

Originality / Re: Firewall Pad Installation-under dash pictures

Dan, that is because 90% of the firewall pads have disintegrated :) Plus if someone is replacing them, they rarely take a pic :) I know I didn't.  What would you like to know?

Restoration / Re: Convertible Molding/Window fuzzy
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:17:50 AM »
Bill, the rear fuzzies have 2 screws, one on each end.  The pinchweld has the tab the rear screw goes through.  Ideally they should go on at the same time, but that takes a lot of hands :)  you can get them on seperately in either order I think, but the round trim of the fuzzie fits inside that little edge on the molding and the molding screw tab fits in-between fuzzie and qtr.  I put the molding on first, then the fuzzie and it was a pain, but I think it would be a pain either way.  and awl is your friend for locating the screw holes! If you are drilling new holes, make sure the molding is pressed down tight against the qtr when you locate the hole for a nice fit.

Restoration / Re: Split Front Brake Rotors
« on: September 27, 2009, 12:48:49 PM »
Interesting!  Nothing at Ricks, YO or Classic. $300 for 2-peice rotors is not bad when regular rotors are $255 at YO.  To bad, I already have my rotors :(

General Discussion / Re: Question for JohnZ or anyone else who can help
« on: September 03, 2009, 12:01:01 PM »
041 and 186 heads are basically the same.  They will both take 2.02 valves.  I had a set for me 350/300 engine and had the shop put in 1.94/1.60 for better exhaust flow while keeping the low end torque of the 350. They also pocket ported them.  But since the 041s are as rare as 186s (maybe more rare, because a lot of them have been modified for circle tracks), I would not put 2.02s in them.  Save them for the Camaro SS owners looking for correct heads :)

Maintenance / Re: 1969 camaro non rs wipers wont park?
« on: August 04, 2009, 10:51:00 AM »
The parking leg of the ground circuit goes through the brass ring in the upper/center of the motor.  Once the switch is turned off, the ground then goes though the motor base, though the brass ring to the grommet metal>bolt>firewall until the parking breaker opens (internal).  Make sure you have a good ground there.

Very nice!  Looks like a SS/RS too.  I see the early production model has lost the chrome windshield surround, thats a shame :(
