Originality / Re: Grille color on a X44?

If you want to rattle can the grille, use Krylon #1403, dull aluminum.  It's right on the money.  Actually the best match that I've seen.

Jerry

I agree, that is what I used on my grill!

The brass ring's tab is sandwiched between the plate halves to provide a good ground path.  If it comes out of the paltes, then there is your problem. You have to seperarate the plate halves (riveted together) to get the brass tab out.

Originality / Re: 1969 window cranks
« on: July 20, 2010, 10:35:21 AM »
I have been told that the nos window cranks are different from what was used on the assembly line in 69.Does anyone know what the difference would be???I do know there is a difference between deluxe and standard interior handles. Thanks

Yes and yes.  Deluxe cranks are different from standards, the curves of the handles are different from front standard, front Deluxe.  rears were the same, but different from the fronts. You have to look at them by casting number on the back. There was some good info on team camaro about casting numbers.  The new correct repros are good ( I bought the standards).  correct curve and they stay on the shaft (so far).  NOS ones could be service replacements or from a different car or year.  Go by the casting number!

Restoration / Re: I need rocker panel moldings

I make it a point to pick up rocker spears at shows the vendor goes to to take the shipping worry out.  I just picked up a set from Ground-up at E-town.

Restoration / Re: Any aftermarket door handles that come close to NOS?
« on: April 08, 2010, 11:33:58 AM »
I bought door handles direct from trim parts, very nice, very close to original. But started to bubble within a year (car was garaged and covered the whole time due to trans issues).  Contacted trim parts and got a full replacement.

Sure, its just a ground.  Make sure it is the motor base and there is bare metal touching.

John, actually, the park circuit ground goes through the brass tab.  If the tab does not have ground, the motor stops whenever you switch it off.

Yes, the one on the left is the brass tab.  normally the brass is sandwiched between the motor base plates and cannot be removed from the motor.  Just make sure the brass has a good ground to the firewall.  the switch ground should be on the backside of the dash and grounds both the light and wiper switch.  both need to have a good ground to work properly.

I cannot get the info to paste in the reply box from my 1974 parts book.  What parts for a 1968 Camaro coupe do you need coded?

Joe email on the way.

Once I fix all the other issues on my car the tailpipe tweak will be next, I am pretty sure they need to be bent parallel and up a bit. thx

Can I get pics too?  Do they go straight out and level?  The set on my car (from Ricks) goes to the sides a little.
