Originality / Re: AIR CLEANER SERVICE DECAL
« on: January 16, 2023, 09:08:10 PM »
I'm curious too.  I don't have an SS in that build date, but I do have a 2bbl 327 with that build date.  There are a bunch of things that are 68 leaning on the car, but the air cleaner was missing.  My opinion for my 2bbl is the older black gold label (which is not reproduced), so I had a one off done by Don L.

With todays 3-d printing that might be the way to go, but I do not have that setup :(

I still have my mold, but have not done any molding in many years. I might still have one from the run I did long ago, but I will have to see if mine are brittle too.  Did you have it mounted and the underhood heat may have effected it?

Great info!

CW - L48/M20, BB auto & man (is what I need for my car)

But it would be good to know the original lengths.  I am confused with the lengths the repros are available in.

Thanks!

Sounds like a warranty transfer, car was resold by dealer while still under factory warranty.  My .02

That would be a sharp color combo! With black stripes of course.  Anyone in North Carolina? :)

Here is the selling link with more pics.  You can buy it and reunite the engine with car!

Mike, thanks for the link!  I had to recheck the screws I have with some original and GM stiffeners.  Between the 2 screws sizes I have, I thought the larger head was correct, but after trying them, the smaller head is correct. I used larger head chrome screws in my repro stiffener and they seemed to fit, but the screws in the link (and what you bought) are correct.  My head hurts now. :)

Very Nice SS!  The original Fathom green, white top and Ivory HT interior would have made a statement in 69!

You might want to save the wrinkled cowl seal before it gets worse, flip the horns and source the rad support to hood seal (I see some original clips still there!)

Yes, AIM and AMK are what I look at 1st.

AMK does not list the 3943203 headlight screw in my PDF, the Heartbeat ones do not have the washer.

For the grill stiffener the number is 9421923 8-18 x 3/4" .27 D S3 is black phosphate, but that finish is not listed for sale.

Heartbeat shows 7 screws, but my stiffener uses 9 :) And I need another 9 for my other Camaro.

Send me a PM please :)

OK, I tried the headlight bezel screws.  There are indentations where the screw goes into the bezels. So the medium washers will not work.  I installed the 5/8" screws with the small washers and it worked fine.  Of course you cannot see the washers on the screws when installed :)

The grill stiffener screws are a bit more strange.  The 5/8" black ones I have have a smaller head than the chrome ones I used previously.  And the head of the w/washers are a bit too big.  More info would be helpful!

Well, this thread is very informative, but I think we need to go deeper. Pic attached.

For headlight bezels: chrome 8-18 x 5/8" with "washer".  But medium washer or small washer??

For grill stiffener: black phosphate 8-18 x "what length?"  1/2" or 5/8"? washer or no washer? (I assume 5/8" length)

Based on how many spare screws I have, I assume the 5/8" chrome screws with the medium washer are for the interior door panel or maybe a big washer. The big washer version of these screws I know were used for convertible rear interior panels.  Just not sure about interior door panels.

And would the screws for deluxe panels be different then standard door panels?

Which would leave the small washer for the headlight bezels. (I will test the fit of both later today)

I also found versions of these screws in 1/2" length.  Where would these go?

Thanks for any insight!
