Decoding/Numbers / Re: Block stamp
« on: November 19, 2016, 01:00:22 AM »
According to Colvin's Chevrolet by the Numbers book, this block was only used from approximately January 1969 through April 1969 in both 2 and 4 bolt main configurations. The 4 bolt blocks were known to have been used in 350 and 302 engines. Look at the crank flywheel flange to determine what the crank is. Also look at the stamp pad in front of the passenger head for the stamped assembly date and code. Post any information you find there.

Can you post a picture of the cowl tag? Does the car have a 12 bolt? I had a Firebird Sprint that had the plate and the radius rod installed but that was the overhead cam 6 cylinder.

Something is definitely odd with a 6 cylinder body having the bracket (provisions for the rod) in the floor for the radius rod attachment. What is the build date on the car? All 67 Camaro bodies did not have the support under the seat for the rod. I have a late production 327 4 speed car that does not have the plate welded to the floor under the rear seat. It is not an L30/M20.

I'm just curious. Would a 67 RS/SS have chrome trim around the wheel wells? I'm not seeing any on this car?

It should have and this car does have them. Look closer, the chrome trim is there.

The add states 302 short block which would indicate that the rotating assembly is included in the price. Still would want more detail about the parts.

When I sold it, it was .060 over with 2 sleeves and some other indications it had a hard life.

I sold that block in 2006 I believe.  I found it in Eastern Ky at a speed shop, it come out of West Virginia and needed some work.  If I remember correctly, the cast date was in January.
