Interesting considering spoilers were not an option for Camaros in 1967.

Interesting that the car has a bowtie mirror on it in those pictures.

That looks like a badge from a Custom Chevrolet Truck fender.

1967 - Orphans / Re: 7N216227. Z/28 Engine
« on: January 28, 2018, 11:00:27 PM »
So the body was produced the 5th week of january,   the engine was then assymbled march 22nd?

The add stated the build date on the cowl tag to be 05A which is the first week of May, not 5th week of January.

MU is not a valid suffix and the only M prefix code used in 68 for Camaros was the Z28 MO block. The other M prefixes were 396 big blocks....The date code is also incorrect for the block number.

Not exactly...MU would have been an SS 350 (L48) with automatic transmission.

General Discussion / Re: L30/M20

Is the transmission original? If so what is it. The L30/M20 would have had a Saginaw transmission and an SS car would have received a Muncie transmission. Where does the speedometer cable go through the firewall?

I am a few hours from the car so I can't measure it at this time.

I don't have drawings or a measurement but this should be pretty close.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1967 body tag vs vin tag
« on: May 21, 2017, 12:41:38 AM »
The rear axle has the round radius rod. unfortunately the original engine and trans are long gone.

The VIN reads 124377L and the trim tag is 67-12637 LOS. So they match?

From the COWL TAG CODE page:

Quote
TRIM TAG While the Fisher style code is often confused with the first five digits of the VIN, the two codes are different because of the different meaning of the third digit. In 1967, the third digit of the style code was set to "4" for standard interior or "6" for custom interior.

Since your trim tag code is 12637, your car originally came with custom deluxe interior.

Also my trim tag has no Drive-line (2) code, what would have been the engine trans combination?

your VIN starts with 12437, so your car originally came with the LF7 (327/210) and the standard 3 speed column shift transmission.

Ed

Are you sure? An LF7 would not have the radius rod which was on the 12 bolt. What is the rest of the data on the cowl tag?

3919803 is the correct casting for the intake manifold and it should have the oil fill tube. To replace the headers you will need to install exhaust manifolds. I believe the correct castings for a 1968 Camaro 350 would be 3892679 and 3893608 without A.I.R. (smog equipment).

The seats would have been black with a white stripe.

This is the original seats in my 12C built 797-Z interior. As far as I know, this was the only way the Parchment interior was available in 1967 Camaros.

Brake hose?

Paul

I agree. Check the rubber hose going to the caliper. It could be weak and collapsing not allowing the fluid to return and release the piston(s).
