Perhaps this will help.

Although at first glance it looks "busy", the color coding really helps trace out the circuits.

Is there a succession plan? I think a lot of us are getting older and I wonder what happens when.....

Still a valid question - what happens when ….

At least they are not misrepresenting it.  Their description both on eBay as well as their site clearly states “replica”.

“We have a first-generation 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car Replica Convertible here at Skyway Classics….”

……Personally I would be looking for a longer belt, you may need it.

I was thinking exactly the same thing - why not get the correct belt on the car now and be done with it???

I bet over 90% of the people who want a 1st Gen Camaro don't really care about matching numbers.  They just want a nice car.

I totally agree.

A 1st Generation Camaro doesn’t have to be a numbers matching Z to be considered worthy of consideration……..but that’s just my opinion which with $1.50 will buy you a cup of coffee.

Restoration / Re: Temperature Gauge Increments

Cold = 70 degrees
1/4 Scale = 105
1/2 Scale = 141
3/4 Scale = 176
Hot = 212

When I installed console gages in my '69 RS back in 1993, I made a "quick and dirty chart" by monitoring temperature of the water outlet housing vs. gage reading up to normal and then based on that information, extrapolated what the higher temp values would be.  This has worked well for me over the years.

Have you tried a different timing light?

Are you sure your harmonic balancer is sound and not partially broken?

I call BS. The VA can see a much higher vacuum under a decel - ported or not.

Agree

Been running manifold vacuum on my distributor (with Pertronix/eliminated the points) since 2005 - works great - no issues.

Everybody has their thing - but if its an all numbers matching car, then why do it?  (that's the purist in me)

I have the same thought - doesn’t seem like a car to apply the old principle of “beat to fit, paint to match”.

But as the owner, obviously your call.

Body tag looks like it has been off the car IMHO.

"I ordered my 1969 Camaro from the factory the last week in November 1968.......The VIN on the car is 9N570099  which is a later number than some guys claim in the maximum number a Camaro built in 1968 can have..............but the Trim Tag says 12D.     dldebertin "

Interesting to say the least, because the CRG 1967-1969 LOS/NOR End-of-Month Monthly VIN Report found here:  http://www.camaros.org/geninfo.shtml#basics states, if I read it correctly, that the last Norwood VIN produced in Dec 1968 was 9N569987.  Your VIN, 9N570099 is 112 units later.  Since your car still has its original 327, looks like at least a few base V8 327's were built the first day or two of Jan 1969 as existing 327 inventory was depleted.

Not sure you have the correct bracket....mine is a base 327, but RPO N40 for power steering ought to be the same or very similar.

Found this while cleaning out some old files...not a Camaro picture, but still of the general period.

Back in the early ‘90’s when I started working on my ‘66 Chevelle & ‘69 Camaro RS, I tried to acquire every relevant reference book I could lay my hands on.

The attached picture is jus a few of the one’s I acquired and they were invaluable in terms of basic education with regard to my Camaro.

Yes, now we know that some of the information in these books needs updating but they were sure a big help to me.

Although today we have the Internet, I highly recommend having these in your library - if you can find them.

If you have corrosion build up, you’re not under the hood of your car frequently, if ever. It doesn’t happen overnight folks, it takes months.

Exactly

I’ve never had a battery tray corrosion issue on either my ‘69 Camaro (which I’ve owned since 1991) or my ‘66 Chevelle (which I have owned since 1995).

Spending a little time under the hood and ensuring everything, including the battery tray, stays clean will eliminate the problem entirely.
