Decoding/Numbers / Re: VIN # and Trim Tag Build Date
« on: November 10, 2005, 05:20:52 PM »
Sorry, I dont have all the info.  There was a Fathom Green Z on E-Pay yesterday, which ended. And I did not keep it on my watch list. The Cowl tag build date showed 09C, which I think should be a Sep 68 Build.  Correct?  But the VIN started with 682XXX.  The VIN # tells me it should have been built in Sep 69 Right?  I'm just trying to get smart.

Thanks

Restoration / Thin Chrome Stripe
« on: October 29, 2005, 08:54:10 PM »
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to fix that thin chrome stripe that surrounds the A/C heater controller on a 69?  There are other small areas worn, such as around the left side Vent.  I was thinking of using some Chrome Spray, and spraying a bit inside of a clean cup and using a thin paint brush to paint the stripe.....Any other ideas ???

Restoration / Re: 68 rear bumper blues

Arno, My experience with the 69 Repops were the same as you describe.  I had to do a bit of shimming for the bumper to have an even amount of space between bumper and tail panel.  The front was another disappointment.  I ended up taking it back and getting another that fit a bit better.  Now after being on for two years the danged chrome is flaking on the front bumper >:(  I saved my originals and will take them to Bumper Boyz and have them refurbished.  Dutch....Check out bumper boyz on the Net bumperboyz.com  They are in L.A. But do travel to car shows throughout the U.S. You also mail your bumpers to them if thats what you want.

Bill, I cant remember which Magazine.  Either Hemmings Muscle cars or Hot Rod Magazine will be doing a spread on the Dynacorn Shell.  I think they are going to build one and do a story on it.
