So what number should be on the coil itself?

Maintenance / Original vented gas cap
« on: December 24, 2005, 08:39:58 PM »
It has taken me a while to get my DZ to idle correctly. Yesterday I got some gas and the tank was pressurized. Is a vented gas cap supposed to hold any pressure? If it holds pressure could that affect how the car runs?

It seems to me that you could do it your way, then use CRG method and see if your lash is still correct, too loose or too tight. If it is too loose or too tight that is no good. I use the CRG method and there is no clacking. It sounds like a sewing machine.  ;)

Originality / Re: 69 X77 code Camaro Many fact questions.
« on: November 30, 2005, 03:49:48 AM »
The inner surfaces of the front fenders are semi-gloss black primer. X77 is base car exterior trim - no drip rail molding, wheel opening moldings, rear quarter louvers, etc. Fathom Green Z/28's had white stripes.
JohnZ, just a clarification, but doesn't the inner flange of the fender where the hood hinges bolt on get painted body color? And the inner fender get painted black?

Restoration / 302 head rebuild
« on: November 20, 2005, 06:54:14 PM »
The heads are off due to excessive guide clearance on my new 200 mile rebuild (don't ask). I want to make sure they are excactly right this time. The valves and springs are originals. What should I replace these two items with for a stock rebuild. Just go with GM replacements? This is not a race car, just a cruiser. Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 302 Block ?

Alan, take the inspection cover off of the bellhousing. If the crank flange has a single v-notch it is a 302 crank. One clue to look for.

Fold-down rear seat maybe. Is it possible that heavier front springs due to RS option, cowl hood, power steering could cause the rears to get stiffer also? If you look in the Classic Industries catalogue in the spring section they have weights for options leading to spring choices.

Mark, were the front springs different rates or free heights? Do you know the stiffest rate?
