Restoration / Re: CORRECT UNDER BODY COLOR

Just a side note, but I like to see that original shifter with the molded rubber bushings. Is that self locking nut original?

To: Dusk Blue Z,

Very interesting. Your underside color appears virtually identical to mine.  Excuse my pictures, but I took these with 35mm film during the restro back in 1995, and then recently tried to take a digital picture of the print.

How about the flat metal spring-clip around the solenoid?

General Discussion / Re: How much effect does CE engine code have on value?

I would rather have a CE block than a block with the wrong VIN stamp.

I made a little bracket out of flat bar and used the motor mount bolt to hang the bracket. I drilled a 1/8" hole on the end. the spring was moved doen enough to clear the headers. I have Thorley Tri-Y's. I aslo have the backdrive working.

It didn't really matter to me who said it. I just confused me. Pretty easy to do. ;D

The strip paint over sprayed into the well area, over the phostphate black wiper linkage and sometimes over sprayed out from the front edges of the cowl panel.

This is what confused me. It sounded as though only the stripe paint going thru the cowl grill openings got stripe color on the cowl.

Now I am really confused. It was my impression that the cowl was painted body color and then had the Z/28 stripe color painted on the cowl under the area of the cowl panel that received the stripe.  ???

Anyone?

Greg,

Does your car have factory A/C? If so, then yes, you should have a strip of weatherstripping on the top of the Radiator Support. (All cars recieved weatherstripping on the Cowl.)

2. No one source that I know of. The A.I.M. is pretty good, but even it doesn't show all the decals. Which ones are you having trouble with?

Ed

This is a new one for me. There is a weather strip on top of the radiator support? I do not recal seeing that before.

Yeah, I had heard that...I might be wrong, but I think I remember hearing that distributors were much closer to the build date. I am looking to put my car back close to original...and I located a C269 block, so I figure that is as close as I will ever come. Thanks for the info.

This thread over at Team Camaro seems to suggest approximately 2 weeks for engines. Both V1I19DZ engines had early December VINS.

The intake is "M". The water pump bolts are "TR". How about the alternator bracket (3 total) to water pump?

Where we these used other than the thermostat housing?

If it is on the firewall side of the tab it is the GM part number. If it is on the engine side of the tab it should be a Julian date, but should only be 3 numbers. That is 1-366 for each day of a leap year. 11C should be less than 340 or so. Could be a replacement of some sort.

You are lucky to have the original block, and probably all the correct accessories too. It will clean up nicely when you want a rebuild. I bet that original 30-30 sounds great. I would like to compare the sound with the Crane blueprint version.
