Originality / Re: 1969 Z28 Original Ignition coil ?
« on: November 20, 2010, 10:36:09 PM »
As I understand it, the coil and bracket assembly was a part number. When I look in the chassis manual the winding resistance is the same for all V-8 engines, except those with a transistor ignition. So I would conclude the 302 used an ordinary coil with a bracket that made it a different part number from a SS350, etc.

If it is a roller buy a car dolly then sell it after you are done. Not much load on the tow vehicle if you get one with brakes. You can buy a new one for $1300.

I paid $20 each for new ones for my '69. The frames were actually 1971 vintage but the same as used in 1969 at this dealer.

Gary,
Are you asking a question or making a statement?
Bob

Asking. That is who I bought mine from.

I believe so. But the best part to use is B28. See this.

Well, I just purchased some from Vintage Parts.  They didn't know if the $20.15 price listed for 4721222 was for a package quantity (I believe 5) or each.  I ordered 2, so I may get 2 bumpers or 10 bumpers.  We'll see.
It was a package of 5 when I bought them. I used 2, sold 2 and have 1 left.

Not too sure I would say correct as it might depend on what year you have. Example, friend of mine has a 68 Z/28 survivor that has been off the road since 1974 and other than a few things like the smog off, etc. it is as it came from the factory. This is the bumper that is on his deck lid.

I have rubber bumpers purchased in what I believe was the mid to late 80's and each one is individually bagged. They have the part # embossed and one of those matches exactly to the diameter and thickness of what is on the 68 survivor. We can even feel what seems to be the remnants of a part #. This is that bumper:

......

I believe you have the correct bumpers, the one that Vintage Parts now sells. They look like the old crusty ones I took off.

The ones Vintage Parts has are correct. I bought them and they work perfectly. The ones in the ebay auction are too thick.

Decoding/Numbers / #1108367 starter
« on: September 25, 2010, 06:42:12 PM »
Was this starter used on other applications besides the '69 302? I found one with a Dec. '69 date. Possibly an LT1 from '70 or '69 Canaro and Corvette?

My guess is that the curve gives more room to get the valve cover off for lashing. The vacuum tube inside the bracket would aggravate the situation. Thanks John.
